Summary: Acute pancreatitis may present as an initial clinical manifestation of parathyroid carcinoma, which is a rare cause of hypercalcemia-induced acute pancreatitis. While the causal relationship between primary hyperparathyroidism and acute pancreatitis is still controversial, suspicion of hypercalcemia-induced acute pancreatitis should arise when hypercalcemia and abdominal symptoms are present.

Summary: We report a newly diagnosed case of a rare pathological osteolytic lesion. Radiological evaluation revealed multiple bony lesions, suggesting hematological neoplasms or bone marrow metastatic carcinoma. The patient underwent parathyroidectomy, and serum calcium and PTH levels significantly decreased.

Summary: Intrathyroidal parathyroid carcinoma is a rare malignancy that is difficult to diagnose. A systematic review found that the average age of onset is 50.9 years, with 54.17% of patients being female. Right-sided thyroid involvement is seen in 54.17% of cases and the inferior aspect of the thyroid is involved in 66.67% of cases. Surgeons should consider abnormal anatomical locations, including intrathyroidal locations, when managing cases of parathyroid carcinoma.

Summary: A case of a 29-year-old pregnant woman at 34.7 weeks gestation with AFLP, severe acute pancreatitis, and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome is reported. The patient was successfully treated and discharged after 35 days without complications. Follow-up at 10 months showed normal imaging and laboratory results. Early termination of pregnancy and active symptomatic management are important in suspected or confirmed cases of AFLP.

Summary: Integrins expressed on SAP-EVs mediate ALI through their accumulation in the lung. Preincubation of SAP-EVs with HYD-1 attenuates pulmonary inflammation and disruption of the PMVEC barrier. Injections of EVs overexpressing ITGAM and ITGB2 also attenuate pulmonary accumulation of pancreas-derived EVs, as well as decrease pulmonary inflammation and disruption of the endothelial cell barrier.

Summary: The co-occurrence of ICIs-related pancreatitis with diabetes is rare but often severe or fatal. This article presents a case of acute pancreatitis and fulminant type 1 diabetes mellitus in a patient treated with the PD-L1 inhibitor toripalimab and reviews the literature on ICIs-related pancreatitis with diabetes. The study suggests that ICIs can affect endocrine and exocrine functions of the pancreas, providing new perspectives for early identification and effective management.

Summary: Long-term medication with valproic acid is associated with acute pancreatitis. This study investigated the features of this pancreatitis and found that approximately 84% of patients recovered and 16% died within 11 months of starting valproic acid. Among patients rechallenged with valproic acid, about 84% developed a further episode of pancreatitis.

Summary: COVID-19 infection can have diverse gastrointestinal symptoms, including acute pancreatitis, in pregnant women. This case report highlights the severe complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection in a pregnant patient with cardiovascular comorbidities, who developed acute pancreatitis postpartum. The association between SARS-CoV-2 and acute pancreatitis in pregnant women should be recognized by clinicians.

Summary: Parathyroid carcinoma (PC) is a rare malignancy, and sarcomatoid parathyroid carcinoma (SaPC) is an extremely peculiar subtype with higher invasiveness. SaPC presents differences from general PC in age of onset, PTH levels, tumor size, and is often misdiagnosed as thyroid tumors. Despite some similarities, SaPC shows stronger aggressiveness and unique pathological features.
