Summary: In this study, a fully automated pixel-wise post-processing framework was used to evaluate quantitative cardiovascular magnetic resonance myocardial perfusion imaging (CMR-MPI). The study aimed to assess the additional value of coronary magnetic resonance angiography (CMRA) in the diagnostic performance of fully automated pixel-wise quantitative CMR-MPI for detecting hemodynamically significant coronary artery disease (CAD). The results showed that the fully automated pixel-wise quantitative CMR-MPI can accurately detect hemodynamically significant CAD, but the integration of CMRA did not provide significantly additive value.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of microvascular myocardial ischemia in diabetic patients without obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) and its relationship with angina. Dynamic computed tomography-myocardial perfusion imaging and coronary computed tomography angiography were used to assess coronary stenosis, myocardial blood flow, and extracellular volume. The results showed a high incidence of microvascular myocardial ischemia in diabetic patients without obstructive CAD, which was strongly associated with angina.

Summary: The study evaluated the association between impaired coronary vascular function and cardiovascular risk in hypertensive patients without overt coronary artery disease. Results showed that patients with resistant hypertension (RH) were older, had a higher prevalence of left ventricular hypertrophy, and lower hyperemic myocardial blood flow compared to those without RH. Multivariable analysis identified age, RH, and reduced myocardial perfusion reserve as independent predictors of cardiovascular events. Patients with RH and reduced myocardial perfusion reserve had the highest risk of events.

Summary: There is growing interest in the use of echocardiography in the evaluation of primary microvascular angina, which is attributed to primary coronary microvascular dysfunction. Adequate echocardiographic techniques can facilitate diagnosis, follow-up, research, and therapy evaluation. However, there is a lack of sufficient data and limitations in the interpretation of available literature. Various echocardiographic techniques can assess primary coronary microvascular dysfunction, but the diagnosis requires excluding obstructive coronary artery disease. While certain techniques show diagnostic and prognostic potential, there is no consensus on criteria and limited expertise. Therefore, the appraisal of current echocardiographic literature is important for clinical recognition and future research.

Summary: This study examines the preventative and therapeutic effects of inhibiting mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) on abnormal retinal blood vessels in a rat model of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). The results suggest that mTORC1 activation in proliferating endothelial cells contributes to the appearance and progression of ROP-like retinal blood vessels. Inhibition of mTORC1 may be a promising approach for selectively targeting abnormal retinal blood vessels in ROP.

Summary: In the study, the process of angiogenesis in adult regenerating tissue was investigated by grafting portions of the regenerating lung onto the chick chorioallantoic membrane. The results showed peri-graft angiogenesis, particularly in the cardiac lobe. Functional vascular connections were observed between the cardiac lobe and the chick chorioallantoic membrane vascular network. Elevated gene expression levels were found in the cardiac lobe compared to other lobes.
