Summary: Glioblastoma is the most common primary brain malignancy in adults, with a devastating prognosis despite standard treatments. Advance care planning and palliative care are critical for these patients, yet many do not pursue it or have access to these services. More focused and high-quality studies on end-of-life care are needed to address gaps in palliative care resource utilization for glioblastoma patients.

Summary: The study aimed to compare characteristics of ACP interventions across dementia stages, finding major differences in intervention recipients between mild and advanced dementia stages. Most interventions included structured discussions on life goals, values, care preferences, but lacked designs to promote ongoing discussions and documentation. Nurses played important roles in implementing ACP interventions.

Summary: Despite acknowledging the importance of advance care planning (ACP), Asian healthcare professionals find it challenging to engage in ACP due to various barriers such as lack of knowledge, skills, and standard systems. They recognize the essential role of families in ACP but often struggle to involve patients in the process. Capacity building for ACP in Asia should focus on culturally adapting ACP models, providing education for healthcare professionals and the public, and offering institutional support.

Summary: This study systematically synthesized the views of community-dwelling Asians on advance care planning (ACP) and summarized the factors and reasons affecting their uptake of ACP. The findings showed that although Asian adults in the community were willing to engage in ACP, their awareness and uptake of ACP remained low. Background factors such as sociodemographic factors and health status, as well as underlying beliefs and attitudes towards ACP, were found to influence their uptake of ACP.

Summary: This study found that people with dementia who had goals of care conversations with their caregivers tended to have advance directives, health care agents, and were more likely to die at their desired place of death. Goals of care conversations were significantly associated with the perceived usefulness of advance directives, adherence to advance directives, and whether decedents were able to achieve their desired place of death.

Summary: ACP interventions can reduce hospitalization rates for nursing home residents but have no impact on emergency department visits, hospice enrollment, mortality, and satisfaction with care. Policymakers should support the implementation of ACP programs in nursing homes, and further robust studies are needed to determine the effects of ACP on these outcomes.

Summary: The study found that 39% to 90% of Asian patients are willing to engage in advance care planning. Patients' willingness to engage is influenced by various factors, including their knowledge of their diseases and advance care planning, beliefs, family and physician wishes, and barriers. It is important to respect patients' preferences for involvement, timing, and documentation in the process of advance care planning.

Summary: To assess pediatric advance care planning (pACP) documentation and implementation, clinicians at a Canadian pediatric hospice conducted a scoping review. Sixty-four articles and fifteen pACP forms/tools were reviewed, highlighting the importance of a structured, collaborative, and iterative process between families and healthcare providers. No single ACP tool was identified as the gold standard, and implementation strategies included a structured pACP tool, ongoing training, mentorship, and organizational structures.

Summary: The study found that patients with heart failure have positive attitudes towards advance care planning but low actual engagement rates, with a discrepancy between preferences and participation. Patients have different preferences for end-of-life care, and doctors need to consider appropriate care planning methods that align with patients' care goals.
