Summary: Children and adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at risk of developing anemia and various micronutrient deficiencies at diagnosis and one year follow-up. Factors such as age and albumin levels may play a role in predicting anemia in these patients.

Summary: This study examined the diet quality of pregnant women with and without inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and the association between dietary intake and pregnancy guidelines. The results showed that pregnant women with IBD had significantly lower intake of zinc, animal protein, and whole grains compared to those without IBD. Additionally, most pregnant women, especially those with IBD, fell short of the recommended dietary nutrient intake during pregnancy.

Summary: This study found that there is an association between dietary fibre intake and the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease (CD), and ulcerative colitis (UC). It was observed that higher dietary fibre intake is linked to a reduced risk of IBD and CD, but no significant effect on UC risk.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic evaluation and meta-analysis of the dietary intake of adults with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), revealing that all subgroups of IBD patients have inadequate intake of energy, fiber, folate, and calcium. Additionally, their intake of various food groups is also insufficient, and compared to healthy individuals, IBD patients consume significantly less dietary fiber. Further research is needed to improve diet quality and understand factors influencing dietary intake in IBD.

Summary: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a group of chronic immune-mediated intestinal diseases associated with the interaction between the immune system and the intestinal microbiome. Nutritional therapy is supported in IBD but not commonly used in clinical practice. This literature review aims to enhance the understanding of diet's impact on IBD, focusing on Crohn's Disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC). The contribution of diet to the development and treatment of IBD is significant, with nutritional interventions improving symptoms and inflammation burden.

Summary: Dietary gluten intake was found to have no association with the risk of Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC) in a study of 208,280 US participants. These findings provide reassurance amidst increasing concerns about gluten consumption as a trigger for chronic gastrointestinal diseases.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic intestinal disease caused by complex interactions between environmental, genetic, and immune factors. Complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs), including various supplements and diets, are commonly used as primary or supplementary treatments for IBD. The most common CAMs for IBD include plant extracts, herbs, probiotics, and formulations such as cannabis, curcumin, fish oil, and De Simone Formulation. Dietary measures, such as specific carbohydrate diet and low FODMAP diet, are also used to improve symptoms in IBD patients.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, is a group of chronic gastrointestinal diseases that primarily affects young people. The prevalence of IBD has been increasing worldwide, including in Poland. The potential impact of nutrition and dietary components on intestinal lesions in IBD is not fully understood. However, the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD) has developed nutrition guidelines to address the need for dietary recommendations for these patients.

Summary: Residents consuming texture-modified diets with ONS had higher intake of energy, protein, carbohydrates, and fat compared to those without ONS. However, they still fell short of their energy and carbohydrate requirements. Both groups had inadequate fibre intake and high saturated fat intake, with a significant portion of residents at risk of malnutrition.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel disease is a complex disorder characterized by chronic gastrointestinal inflammation. Patients often turn to herbal dietary supplements containing turmeric, Indian frankincense, green chiretta, and black pepper to alleviate symptoms. However, the quality control of these supplements is crucial, as some products failed to meet USP requirements and contained high levels of contaminants such as ethylene oxide.

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are chronic inflammatory disorders of the digestive tract that are influenced by environmental factors including nutrition. This article reviews the bidirectional link between nutritional factors and IBD, the dietary deficits observed in IBD patients, and the potential nutritional interventions.

Summary: The inadequate intake of Vitamin D and Vitamin K in the diet is a reversible factor for IBD-associated bone loss, but there is a lack of data on Vitamin K. A study found that both IBD patients and control patients had inadequate intake of Vitamin D, while the intake of Vitamin K was inadequate in IBD patients and high in controls. The study suggests that proactive nutritional intervention is needed to address Vitamin K shortages in IBD patients.
