Summary: Our study examines the impact of eating norms on individuals' intentions and motivations for unhealthy eating, as well as the role of collective autonomy support and collective control in adherence to group norms. The results demonstrate that pro-unhealthy eating norms increase individuals' intentions to consume salty and fatty food, but also lead to a lack of motivation for unhealthy eating. Moreover, when pro-unhealthy eating is encouraged in a controlling manner, individuals report higher intentions to eat tofu tacos. Conversely, when pro-unhealthy eating is supported by promoting group members' autonomy, individuals exhibit a highly internalized motivation for unhealthy eating. These findings highlight that different types of unhealthy food consumption are influenced by eating norms in varying ways, and that collective control can be motivating in uncertain contexts. Additionally, individuals are more susceptible to integrating unhealthy eating into their lives when their autonomy is supported and promoted by other group members.

Summary: This study evaluated the dietary food groups, nutrient intakes, and eating behaviors of children and adolescents with metabolically healthy or unhealthy obesity phenotypes. The findings showed that children and adolescents with unhealthy obesity consumed less whole grains and polyunsaturated fat, and had lower cognitive dietary restraint. Additionally, the consumption of deep fried food, fast food, and processed convenience food was associated with higher blood pressure. Higher intake of polyunsaturated fat and stronger cognitive dietary restraint were associated with a lower risk of unhealthy obesity phenotype.

Summary: The study found that among non-shift workers, MUO individuals had different energy and macronutrient intake patterns in early and late eating windows compared to MHO individuals. MUO participants consumed less carbohydrates and protein in the early window and more carbohydrates and fat in the late window. Participants with unhealthy metabolic status tended to consume more energy during the late window compared to those with healthier metabolic status.

Summary: Diet quality is influenced by demographics and can change over time. This study compared diet quality among adolescents/adults using an online Healthy Eating Quiz (HEQ), and found that males had lower diet quality, while diet quality was higher among older age groups, higher socio-economic status individuals, vegetarians, those who shared meals with others, and those living in Australia. Furthermore, individuals with lower baseline scores experienced greater changes in diet quality over time.
