Dehydration of 1,4-butanediol to tetrahydrofuran in high-temperature liquid water with carbon dioxide using a flow reactor system was studied. Tetrahydrofuran was continuously obtained and the yield was increased by the addition of carbon dioxide into the flowing solution. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
