Summary: Social media and e-commerce algorithms narrow our attention by reinforcing past behavior and encouraging us to emulate our peers, which hinders our ability to perceive diverse trends and phenomena. Monitoring popular literature is one strategy to remain unchanneled, revealing readers' fears and longings while helping to preserve independent thinking, synthesis, and creativity.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), demographic and clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and rates of cardiovascular and renal complications in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) treated in routine clinical care. The results showed that the prevalence of CKD remained stable at approximately 30% in T2D patients, and CKD was associated with significantly increased rates of complications, especially in those with comorbid heart failure.

Summary: Bringing quality management research into perspective is crucial for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in developing nations like Nigeria. The existing literature lacks sufficient explanation of the relationship between total quality management implementation and research performance in the educational industry, especially from a developing economy perspective. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of total quality management (TQM) on the research output of HEIs in Nigeria. The findings suggest that implementing TQM, especially through its various tools, values, and methodologies, benefits improving HEIs' research outputs.

Summary: This study aims to understand the barriers and motivators influencing research engagement among early-career nephrology practitioners in the UK, and provide guidance for interventions to enhance research involvement. The survey revealed that employment as a physician, protected time for research activity, and appropriate training were associated with greater research experience and output. Participants showed enthusiasm for research, but reported insufficient staffing, lack of time, funding, and encouragement as major barriers. COVID-19 was identified as a negative impact on research opportunities. Mentoring and an online research resource were suggested as strategies to promote engagement.

Summary: The study found that 44% of physiotherapy graduates in Australia in 2017 completed a 5-week clinical placement in private practice. Clinical education managers perceived private practice placements to be safe and beneficial for students, private practices, and universities. The main risks identified were related to the quality and consistency of the student's experience, while the main barriers were time costs and perceived loss of earning capacity. Clinical education managers emphasized the importance of providing more time and resources to establish and support private practitioners to enhance the capacity and quality of private practice placements.

Summary: The evidence on the relationship between intergenerational education and late-life cognitive decline is mostly from high-income countries, despite changes in education in low- and middle-income countries. This study used data from the Mexican Health and Aging Study to examine the association between parental education, one's own education, adult child's education and verbal memory scores. The results showed that lower parental and individual education levels were associated with faster decline in delayed verbal memory scores, while the association between adult child's education and respondent's verbal memory decline varied.
