Summary: In eukaryotes, circular RNAs (circRNAs) are produced through back-splicing of precursor mRNAs (pre-mRNAs), resulting in a covalently closed-loop structure. Due to their unconventional circular form, circRNAs exhibit higher stability compared to linear RNAs and play unique roles in cellular regulation. They are widely expressed in eukaryotes and show tissue- and disease-specific expression patterns, including in the cardiovascular system. Further research is needed to understand the characteristics, biogenesis, and functions of circRNAs, as well as their emerging roles in cardiovascular diseases.

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a special class of RNA that are widely present in various organisms and are more stable and conserved than linear RNAs. They play important roles in the pathophysiological changes of human diseases, including cancer, particularly in relation to hypoxia-induced regulation. This review highlights the emerging evidence of the interplay between circRNAs and hypoxia, and discusses their impact on cancer progression, therapeutic resistance, angiogenesis, and energy metabolism. Furthermore, the potential application of circRNAs in the early detection, prognosis, and treatment of various diseases is emphasized.

Summary: circRNAs are a class of interesting and conserved single-stranded RNA molecules that play important roles in various biological processes, especially in microRNA sponges, gene splicing and transcription regulation, RNA-binding protein sponges, and protein/peptide translation. They are involved in various human diseases, particularly cancers, and may serve as better predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.

Summary: LncPVT1 and CircPVT1, isoforms of the PVT1 gene, are significantly overexpressed in colon adenoma polyps compared to normal-adjacent tissues. In silico analysis suggests their involvement in colon cancer development through the CircPVT1/miR-484, miR-24-3p, miR-423-5p/PLAGL2 axis.

Summary: This article summarizes the pathological features of neurodegenerative diseases and the regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs in various types of neurodegenerative diseases. It is found that circRNAs mainly influence the pathological process of neurodegenerative diseases by affecting the abnormal deposition of proteins through multiple mechanisms such as acting as microRNA sponges, binding to proteins, and regulating transcription.

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs), previously considered as byproducts without biological functions, have been found to play important roles in cognitive function and cognitive-related diseases such as autism, depression, and Alzheimer's diseases. Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics have led to the identification of thousands of circRNAs and their differential biological functions, particularly in the brain and synapses. This review summarizes the progress in understanding the role of circRNAs in cognitive function and their involvement in cognitive-related diseases.

Summary: Leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease caused by Leishmania protozoa, is responsible for thousands of deaths annually. Conventional treatments have limitations, prompting the search for new therapeutic strategies. Metallic nanoparticles have shown promise as they can be easily prepared, have a broad spectrum of action and low toxicity. This review explores the progress and gaps in knowledge regarding metallic nanoparticles as new tools in leishmaniasis treatment.
