This study investigates the corrosion and tribocorrosion behaviors of selective laser melting processed Ti-15Mo alloy on different planes through electrochemical measurements and synergistic wear-corrosion analysis. The results demonstrate that the corrosion and tribocorrosion resistances vary among different planes and are attributed to the distinct microstructure of the alloy.
Electrochemical measurements and synergistic wear-corrosion analysis in Hank's solution are performed to investigate the corrosion and tribocorrosion behaviors on different planes (deviating from the horizontal direction of 0 degrees, 45 degrees and 90 degrees) of selective laser melting processed Ti-15Mo alloy. The results show that the corrosion and tribocorrosion resistances of different planes in the Hank's solution are changed in the order of 0 degrees > 45 degrees > 90 degrees. The anisotropic corrosion and tribocorrosion resistances can be ascribed to the quite different microstructure of SLM-fabricated Ti-15Mo alloy on different planes, such as: phase composition, grain size distribution, molten pool boundary density and texture orientation.
