Summary: The DNA binding capacity and cytotoxic effects of two cycloplatinated complexes (C1 and C2) were evaluated. Both complexes exhibited high DNA binding affinity and were able to quench the fluorescence of ethidium bromide. They also induced DNA viscosity increase, confirming their intercalative interactions with DNA. C2 showed the highest cytotoxicity, particularly on a cisplatin resistant-cell line, and induced apoptosis comparable or higher than cisplatin in all cell lines.

Summary: The dinuclear platinum(II) complexes Pt1 and Pt2 were synthesized and characterized, with Pt1 showing higher cytotoxicity towards solid cancer cell lines and lower cytotoxicity towards mMSC cells compared to Pt2. Furthermore, Pt1 complex induced apoptosis in 4T1 and A549 cells by increasing pro-apoptotic caspase-3 expression and decreasing anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 and Ki-67 expression, suggesting its potential antitumor capacity through facilitating apoptosis and inhibiting tumor cell proliferation.

Summary: The stability, lipophilicity, in vitro cytotoxicity, and influence on acetylcholinesterase of five dinuclear platinum(II) complexes were evaluated. Some of the complexes showed promising anticancer activity and selectivity, with minimal effects on normal cells. Docking studies provided insights into the binding modes with acetylcholinesterase.

Summary: A series of Pt and Pd complexes with dpp-Bian and different ligands were synthesized and characterized. The Pt(dpp-Bian) complexes showed high anticancer activity at low concentrations and exhibited selectivity towards cancer cells. These complexes induced the generation of reactive oxygen species in cancer cells and were able to intercalate into DNA.

Summary: Two potent prospective anticancer small molecule drug complexes, PtLCl (1) and PdLCl (2), were synthesized and showed high effectiveness in inducing cell death. Complex 1 exhibited a greater tumor inhibition rate than complex 2, with total tumor inhibition of 92.3% and 72.3% respectively. These complexes were found to interact with DNA and prevent its transfer and replication, offering potential for more effective cancer cell eradication through intercalation. Overall, these complexes are promising candidates for the development of new Pt- and Pd-based anticancer drugs.

Summary: This work describes the synthesis, anticancer activity and electron structure study of two Cu (II) complexes with a coumarin-3-formyl-(3-(aminomethyl) pyridine) ligand. The study confirmed the structures of the two complexes and revealed that electronic transitions originate from metal-ligand charge transfer and d-d transitions of metal ions. Both complexes were found to intercalate with DNA, with C2 showing higher anti-MCF-7 activity compared to cisplatin. C2 also exhibited superior selectivity, making it a promising candidate for the development of novel non-platinum anticancer agents.
