In this study, space charge measurement was conducted on a 23-mm-thick cross-linked polyethylene cable using a high-sensitivity measurement device and a correction method for temperature gradient. The results showed the importance of obtaining accurate reference waveforms by allowing sufficient time before the measurement.
Space charge measurement was performed on a 23-mm-thick cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable at ambient and high temperatures using a newly developed high-sensitivity measurement device and a correction method for cables under temperature gradient. The space charge and electric field distribution were obtained with a spatial resolution of 0.5 mm (2%) at ambient and high temperatures. In addition, we propose an approach to obtain the in situ system's impulse responses to maintain correction accuracy for long-term measurement. The reference waveforms were measured before and after 3 h of testing voltage application. It showed that sufficient time before the measurement is necessary for accurate reference waveforms. To obtain a suitable time for the measurement, the method using cross correlation was proposed.

Summary: The monopole antenna with a semi-spherical silicon lens effectively suppressed the diffusion of millimeter waves and was used for underfilm corrosion imaging. Reflection properties of gamma-FeOOH tablets were investigated at 33.1 GHz, showing precise delays in the presence of the tablet. Clear delays were measured for an accelerated aging sample, successfully realizing a corrosion map under the coatings.

Summary: Accurate measurement of space charge is crucial in evaluating cables for high-voltage DC systems. This study utilized advanced analysis technologies, including time-domain deconvolution, to accurately estimate electric fields. Through the application of pulse electroacoustic method on a 66 kV-class cable, waveform analysis was conducted to reproduce the electric field distribution. The statistical analysis showed that, even with optimized deconvolution parameters, the estimation accuracy was -0.3% +/- 19.9% with a 95.4% confidence interval under a DC voltage of 30 kV.

Summary: This work proposes a method to evaluate the accuracy of space-charge measurements by estimating the electric field distribution in the insulating walls of cables. Time-domain deconvolution is used to process the large data required for statistical analysis. The proposed method optimizes deconvolution parameters and analyzes the space charge waveform, providing accurate estimation for waveforms observed at high voltages.
