Panitumumab and cetuximab affect differently miRNA expression in colorectal cancer cells

Romain Chautard, Laetitia Corset, Sajida Ibrahim, Celine Desvignes, Gilles Paintaud, Nadine Baroukh, Maxime Gueguinou, Thierry Lecomte, William Raoul

Summary: The study found significant effects of cetuximab and panitumumab exposure on miR expression in colorectal cancer cells, with some miR interacting with downstream elements of the EGFR pathway. 5 miRs rarely described before were identified as potential actors of anti-EGFR monoclonal antibody resistance, and miR-139-5p and miR-145-5p were detected in the serum of patients with metastatic CRC.

Genomics of Clear-cell Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Thi Oanh Bui, Van Tu Dao, Van Tai Nguyen, Jean-Paul Feugeas, Frederic Pamoukdjian, Guilhem Bousquet

Summary: Genetic tumor heterogeneity is a major cause of resistance in metastatic renal cell carcinoma patients. A meta-analysis of genomic data from 14,696 patients revealed a higher level of mutations in metastases compared to primary tumors, emphasizing the importance of biopsies on metastases in guiding treatment strategies.

Dose-Intense Cisplatin-Based Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Increases Survival in Advanced Cervical Cancer: An Up-to-Date Meta-Analysis

Van Tai Nguyen, Sabine Winterman, Margot Playe, Amelie Benbara, Laurent Zelek, Frederic Pamoukdjian, Guilhem Bousquet

Summary: This article used a meta-analysis to study the effectiveness of dose-intense cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer. The results showed that this treatment could improve overall survival and open up new possibilities for clinical trials in cases where local treatment is suboptimal.

The Pre-Operative GRADE Score Is Associated with 5-Year Survival among Older Patients with Cancer Undergoing Surgery

Philippe Wind, Zoe ap Thomas, Marie Laurent, Thomas Aparicio, Matthieu Siebert, Etienne Audureau, Elena Paillaud, Guilhem Bousquet, Frederic Pamoukdjian

Summary: The pre-operative GRADE score, which combines simple geriatric and cancer parameters, can provide a prognosis and help surgeons choose the most suitable treatment strategy for older cancer patients undergoing major surgery for digestive or non-breast gynaecological cancers, thereby avoiding under or over-treatment.

A Teleconsultation Device, Consult Station, for Remote Primary Care: Multisite Prospective Cohort Study

Geraldine Falgarone, Guilhem Bousquet, Arnaud Wilmet, Albert Brizio, Valerie Faure, Celestin Guillouet, Franck Baudino, Isabelle Roque, Samuel Mayol, Frederic Pamoukjian

Summary: This study examined the implementation of the telemedicine device Consult Station in areas with a low density of medical services and evaluated its contribution to health care pathways. The results showed that Consult Station was mainly used by younger women for low-severity seasonal infections, while consultations for hypertension, diabetes, and preventive medicine were less common. The implementation of Consult Station could address the challenge of medical deserts and potentially reduce work absenteeism.

A massive open online course to teach undergraduate medical students in oncology: keys of success

Diaddin Hamdan, Frederic Pamoukdjian, Jaqueline Lehmann-Che, Cedric de Bazelaire, Laetitia Vercellino, Julien Calvani, Maxime Battistella, Philippe Bertheau, Geraldine Falgarone, Guilhem Bousquet

Summary: Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), which have gained popularity in education, were evaluated in this study to determine their impact on undergraduate medical students. The study focused on a MOOC for oncology teaching and found that it had a positive effect on students' grades. The students' socioeconomic status and willingness to participate were significantly associated with their final results.

HER2 Amplification Level Predicts Pathological Complete Response in the Neoadjuvant Setting of HER2-Overexpressing Breast Cancer: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review

Burak Gonullu, Eurydice Angeli, Frederic Pamoukdjian, Guilhem Bousquet

Summary: Anti-HER2 therapies greatly improve the prognosis of HER2-overexpressing cancers, but the relationship between HER2 copy number and response rate to treatment is unclear. A meta-analysis was performed on 9 studies, involving 11,238 women with breast cancer, to study the association between HER2 amplification level and pathological complete response (pCR). The analysis showed that higher HER2/CEP17 ratio was associated with higher pCR rates, confirming the potential therapeutic value of considering HER2 amplification level.

Ultrasound assessment is linked to histological vein wall thickness in chronic venous disease

Sammi Zerrouk, Paolo Casoni, Edoardo Cervi, Rafik Amirat, Guilhem Bousquet, Christophe Leboeuf, Anne Janin, Frederic Pamoukdjian

Summary: This study aimed to compare ultrasound and histological approaches for patients with chronic venous disease (CVD). The results showed that ultrasound assessment of vein wall thickness (VWT) could be a non-invasive tool for diagnosis and follow-up in CVD, and could help optimize treatment plans.

Genomics of Breast Cancer Brain Metastases: A Meta-Analysis and Therapeutic Implications

Thuy Thi Nguyen, Diaddin Hamdan, Eurydice Angeli, Jean-Paul Feugeas, Quang Van Le, Frederic Pamoukdjian, Guilhem Bousquet

Summary: Breast cancer brain metastases are a challenging daily practice. This study performed a meta-analysis on genomic data to identify gene alterations associated with metastatic processes in the brain. Six genes with a higher mutation prevalence in brain metastases than in extracerebral metastases were identified, indicating their potential therapeutic implications.
