Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and patterns of dyslipidemia among patients with type 2 diabetes and its associated risk factors. The results showed that combined dyslipidemia, characterized by high triglycerides and low HDL-cholesterol, was the most common type. Factors such as diabetes duration, statin non-compliance, HbA1c level, and smoking were associated with different types of dyslipidemia.

Summary: This study investigated the value of serum cystatin C levels and dyslipidemia in detecting diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed significant lipoprotein abnormalities and increased serum cystatin C levels in type 2 diabetes patients with nephropathy. The study also found a significant correlation between dyslipidemia and serum cystatin C levels. Therefore, serum cystatin C and dyslipidemia may serve as sensitive and non-invasive biomarkers for diabetic nephropathy.

Summary: The meta-analysis found that vitamin C supplementation significantly decreased TG and TC levels in T2DM patients, but did not affect LDL and HDL. Duration of treatment and dose of vitamin C were found to influence the improvement of lipid profile in T2DM patients. Results suggest that long-term vitamin C supplementation may be more beneficial for improving lipid profile in diabetic populations.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between atherosclerotic indices and the prevalence of hypertension in Chinese adults without type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that atherosclerotic indices were higher in the hypertensive population compared to the normotensive population, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure were positively correlated with these indices. The cholesterol index and non-HDL-C were identified as independent risk factors for hypertension prevalence.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of pitavastatin therapy on serum adiponectin levels and high-molecular-weight (HMW) adiponectin in patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as their correlation with insulin sensitivity. The results showed that pitavastatin therapy did not significantly change serum adiponectin or HMW adiponectin levels, and it did not affect insulin sensitivity.

Summary: A study found that increased levels of triglycerides, even within the normal range, are associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in healthy individuals. This suggests the importance of lowering triglyceride levels for diabetes prevention and encourages lifestyle changes in the general population.

Summary: The study found that serum BPA concentration was associated with changes in blood lipid levels and dyslipidemia risk in middle-elderly Chinese adults. Serum BPA levels were positively related to total cholesterol, LDL-c, and Non-HDL-c levels. Increased Ln-BPA was associated with increased Delta TC, Delta Non-HDL-c, Delta TC/HDL-c, and Delta Non-HDL-c/HDL-c. The associations were observed in females but not in males.

Summary: In this cross-sectional study, higher levels of dehydroepiandrosterone were significantly associated with a lower risk of dyslipidemia in adult men with type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, rising levels of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, androstenedione, and total testosterone showed no significant correlations with the risk of dyslipidemia in male patients with T2DM. Further prospective research is needed to confirm the role of dehydroepiandrosterone in the development of dyslipidemia.

Summary: This study found that serum IL-27 levels were compensatorily increased in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism or hypothyroidism and were independently associated with NAFLD. Circulating IL-27 levels could predict the occurrence of NAFLD in hypothyroidism. These results suggested that altering the circulating levels of IL-27 may be a potential therapeutic target for NAFLD.

Summary: The study found significant associations between T2D and fasting insulin levels with increased serum urate concentrations, suggesting a potential link between fasting insulin and risk of gout. However, genetic predisposition to urate and gout did not show associations with T2D or any of the 4 glycemic traits investigated. Further research is needed to explore the underlying biological mechanisms of these relationships.

Summary: The study found that serum Metrnl levels were reduced in individuals with overweight or obesity and were independently associated with adverse lipid profile. This finding suggests that modifying circulating Metrnl levels may serve as a potential therapeutic target for atherogenic dyslipidemia.

Summary: This study describes the association between PPAR alpha expression and fasting blood glucose, HbA1c levels, and lipid levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results show that PPAR alpha expression is not associated with physical and biochemical parameters measured in this study and is independent of blood lipids and glycemic control. Further research is necessary to better understand the biological parameters of PPAR alpha expression.
