Summary: The study aimed to compare the bioactive compounds and quality parameters of fresh and fermented caper buds and berries, finding that the phenolic content and antioxidant capacity were higher in fresh and fermented buds than in berries. The amounts of isorhamnetin, quercetin, and kaempferol increased in fermented samples, while total phenolics and antioxidant properties were better preserved in dry-salted samples compared to brined samples.

Summary: Interference of residual lipids is a common problem in ultratrace analysis of contaminants in fatty matrices. This study evaluated the efficiency and performance of four commonly used sorbents for lipid clean-up and found that the EMR-lipid sorbent was the most efficient for the determination of organic pollutants in fatty fish samples.

Summary: A rapid and accurate UPLC-MS/MS method was developed for measuring 19 steroid hormones in dried blood spots and achieving traceable analysis. The method utilized a BEH C8 column and UPLC-MS/MS for separation, with a simple and accurate extraction process. The distribution ranges of the 19 steroid hormones in four healthy individuals were determined simultaneously using positive and negative ionization modes, and the standard curves showed good linearity with correlation coefficients of R-2=0.997. The developed method provides important insights into the distribution of steroid hormones and enables traceable analysis in dried blood samples.

Summary: Naringin is a dietary flavonoid glycoside with multiple bioactivities. This study developed a rapid and sensitive method for simultaneous determination of ten flavonoid metabolites of naringin in rat urine. The results revealed the visible individual difference and low urinary recovery of flavonoid metabolites in the excretion of naringin, which may be helpful for further study to understand the in vivo behavior and action mechanism of naringin.
