Summary: The Education Partnership Assistance (EPA) has played a significant role in the balanced and sustainable development of higher education in China. By providing assistance from universities in East China to those in the West, EPA is aligned with the government's commitment to sustainable development. Through leadership secondment, training, and ICT and library development, EPA has improved the development of universities in the West. However, the paper argues that true sustainability relies on the capacity building of recipient universities rather than continuous assistance.

Summary: The research highlights that district managers have the ability to design local capacity development innovations, drawing on systems thinking, tacit knowledge, and experiential knowledge to enable relevant "bottom-up" capacity development in district health systems. By utilizing soft skills and the policy resources of the system, they can influence motivation and buy-in to improve management practices. From a systems perspective, capacity development can be seen as a part of daily management activities.

Summary: In order for today's decisions to be sustainable, they must consider poverty reduction, livelihood improvement, climate change mitigation, and fairness towards vulnerable populations. Climate-resilient development pathways aim to achieve these goals by enabling decision-makers to identify, consolidate, and implement climate action and development decisions for sustainable development. However, there is currently limited evidence and guidance on how to navigate this practice in real-world situations.

Summary: The patient as partner approach is an effective way to engage patients in their own healthcare. This study implemented a patient and family partnership committee (PFPC) at a Lebanese hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that both patient partners and healthcare professionals were satisfied with the PFPC experience, and the PFPC had noticeable benefits for both patients and healthcare professionals. However, challenges such as time availability and conflicts need to be addressed.

Summary: Progress toward malaria elimination and improvements in the performance of national malaria control programs have stagnated in recent years, and the COVID-19 pandemic poses further threats. Surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation are crucial for the continued success of these programs. Interventions aimed at strengthening these programs should include both the target population and the program provider. While there is a growing emphasis on qualitative approaches in provider-focused efforts, success metrics often focus on quantitative measures.

Summary: This study investigated the safety of self-supply groundwater and the risk of fecal contamination in urban Indonesia. The results revealed that 66% of the samples from water sources contained E.coli, but microbial quality significantly improved during the point-of-use due to widespread boiling of water. The presence of E.coli was significantly associated with sanitation systems located within 10 meters of the groundwater source in Bekasi, while poorer households in Metro had a higher risk of contamination.

Summary: The recent resurgence of gender-transformative approaches in the development sector has focused on transforming gender norms, dynamics, and structures that perpetuate inequalities. In the context of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programming, the application of gender-transformative approaches lags compared to other sectors. This inquiry sought to document and critically reflect on the conceptualization and innovation of gender-transformative thinking in the Australian Government's Water for Women Fund, providing a framework and illustrative examples to support WASH practitioners in integrating gender-transformative practice.

Summary: This study investigated the associations between seasonality and faecal contamination of groundwater self-supply in Indonesian cities. The results showed mixed associations between seasonality and microbial water quality, with significantly higher concentrations of Escherichia coli during the wet season in one city but not the other. There were no significant associations between season and the presence or high concentrations of E. coli in self-supply sources or at the point-of-use.
