Summary: China experienced a severe influenza season in February 2023, with Beijing being the center of the outbreak. The number of confirmed cases rapidly increased and peaked in March, with 7262 cases included in this study. Fever was the most common symptom, and the influenza viruses showed higher transmissibility and longer shedding duration.

Summary: This retrospective descriptive study investigated the epidemiological characteristics of the COVID-19 outbreak in Yangzhou city caused by the highly contagious Delta variant strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus. The study aimed to provide prevention and control guidelines for future outbreaks. The results showed that the Delta variant was highly infectious and exhibited obvious clustering characteristics during the outbreak in Yangzhou, China.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the spatial epidemiological characteristics of mumps in Jiangsu, China. The findings showed a decline in mumps incidence with seasonal distribution in summer and winter. Children aged 5-10 years old were identified as the main risk group. Hot spots of mumps incidence were found to migrate over time from southeast to northwest.

Summary: This research examines the evolution of COVID-19 incidence rates and effective reproduction number R(t), as well as their relationship with spatial autocorrelation patterns in Catalonia, Spain. The study finds that there were five major outbreaks, all preceded by R(t) values greater than 1 in the previous two weeks. There is no clear pattern in the initial focus of each wave. Spatial autocorrelation follows a baseline pattern, but deviations occur in some waves, which can be reproduced through interventions to reduce mobility and virus transmissibility.

Summary: This study analyzed the epidemiological characteristics and temporal-spatial distribution of overseas imported dengue fever cases in outbreak areas in mainland China. The results showed that the cases were mainly concentrated in certain areas of Yunnan, Guangdong, and Fujian provinces. Attention should be paid to the prevention and control of key populations, such as men aged 21-50, and border areas.

Summary: This study conducted a spatial ecological analysis to assess the relationship between hair selenium levels and Keshan disease nationwide. The results showed that the residents in Keshan disease endemic counties had significantly lower hair selenium levels compared to non-endemic counties, and hair selenium levels were positively correlated with per capita GDP.

Summary: This study investigates the spatial characteristics and influencing factors of industrial wastewater discharge in China from 2000 to 2017. The results show significant spatial autocorrelation and agglomeration characteristics in provincial industrial wastewater effluents. Economic development, technological innovation, and environmental governance intensity have negative effects on wastewater discharge, while industrial structure has a positive effect.

Summary: This paper discusses the spatial and temporal distribution of severe haze in China, analyzing the impact of economy and energy structure on haze. It provides references for dealing with haze weather and controlling air pollution in China. The study found that haze and PM2.5 concentrations are mainly distributed in the northern regions of China, with more occurrences in winter and less in summer.

Summary: This study aimed to detect the epidemic characteristics and spatio-temporal pattern of reported tuberculosis incidence in Shandong Province. The results showed that men and farmers were the main populations affected by tuberculosis. The reported incidence of tuberculosis had a long-term decreasing trend with clear seasonality. Spatially, areas with high reported incidence were mainly clustered in the northwest and southeast regions of Shandong.

Summary: The construction industry in China is highly energy-intensive and contributes to high carbon emissions, hindering efforts to reduce emissions. This study focuses on reducing carbon emissions from the construction industry (CECI) in order to achieve sustainable development and double carbon target. By using the LMDI model, the study identifies the main influencing factors and their effects, and explores the decoupling relationship between carbon emissions and economic output using the Tapio decoupling index. The spatial-temporal evolution of carbon emissions is also analyzed, revealing regional differences.
