Summary: This study reveals the upregulation of DSCAM-AS1 in cervical carcinoma cells and its negative correlation with miR-338-3p expression. DSCAM-AS1 promotes cervical carcinoma cell growth and cycle by competitively binding to miR-338-3p.

Summary: This study reports the antineoplastic effect of miR-148a-3p overexpression in a colorectal cancer (CRC) model, which occurs through apoptosis, mitochondrial impairment, lipid peroxidation, and ferroptosis sustained by the ACSL4/TFRC/Ferritin axis. The downregulation of SLC7A11 by miR-148a-3p may contribute to the cytotoxicity. These findings highlight the oncosuppressor role of miR-148a-3p and its potential as a diagnostic and therapeutic biomarker in CRC.

Summary: The study found that in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, the long noncoding RNA SNHG17 is upregulated and its knockdown can inhibit tumor cell activities such as proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. Additionally, SNHG17 interacts with miR-338-3p to regulate the expression of SOX4 gene. These molecular interactions may serve as potential therapeutic targets for ESCC.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that metformin inhibits ovarian granular cells (OGCs) pyroptosis through the miR-670-3p/NOX2/ROS pathway. This study aimed to investigate the impact of metformin on OGC pyroptosis and the underlying mechanisms. The results demonstrated that metformin significantly decreased LPS-induced expression of pyroptosis-related genes and reduced cellular caspase-1 activity, ROS production, oxidative stress, and the secretion of inflammatory cytokines. These effects were mediated by the downregulation of NOX2 expression through miR-670-3p.

Summary: This study identifies the role of miR-338-3p in dendritic cells, showing that it enhances the activation of pathogenic Th17 cells and promotes the production of related cytokines. MiR-338-3p represses Dusp16 and strengthens the p38 signaling pathway, resulting in increased pathogenic Th17 responses. Additionally, the m6A methyltransferase Mettl3 mediates the upregulation of miR-338-3p in activated dendritic cells.

Summary: This study investigated the use of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) to alleviate diabetic retinopathy (DR) by inhibiting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome through delivering miR-22-3p. The results showed that MSC-sEVs effectively reduced retinal inflammation and improved histological morphology and blood-retinal barrier function in diabetic rats. These findings suggest that MSC-sEVs may be a potential therapeutic method for DR.

Summary: This study evaluated the specific regulatory mechanisms of the exosomal miR-338-3p/CHL1/MAPK signaling pathway axis in non-small-cell lung cancer. The upregulation of CHL1 enhanced tumor cell proliferation and inhibited apoptosis, while miR-338-3p was found to mediate tumor cell progression by directly interacting with CHL1. Exosomal miR-338-3p suppressed tumor cell proliferation and metastasis by inhibiting the activation of the MAPK signaling pathway through downregulating CHL1 expression.

Summary: Iron plays a vital role in glucose and lipid metabolism, as well as inflammatory responses, and its accumulation due to diabetes mellitus can lead to detrimental effects, with ferroptosis being the most harmful outcome. Diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of blindness, is closely associated with iron and ferroptosis. Effective management of iron overload and ferroptosis in the early stages of diabetic retinopathy can significantly slow down disease progression.
