Summary: In this study, the researchers discovered the importance of nc886 gene in prostate cancer, which affects tumor progression and metastasis by changing cellular morphology and promoting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). They found that nc886 promotes MET by facilitating the degradation of SNAIL protein through ubiquitination. Additionally, they revealed that TGF-beta 1 regulates the transcription of nc886 and its neighboring genes through multiple mechanisms, thus further influencing the EMT process.

Summary: This review discusses the role of exosomes in cancer progression, therapy, and regulation of the tumor microenvironment. The study found that exosomes can influence cancer cell proliferation and migration rates by modulating components of the tumor microenvironment. Depending on their cargo, exosomes can promote or suppress tumor cell progression and enhance or reduce the response to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Additionally, exosomes can trigger chronic inflammation and lead to immune evasion and tumor progression by transferring RNA and modulating molecular signaling pathways. Moreover, exosomes can serve as carriers of anti-tumor agents and genetic tools to control cancer progression. Finally, exosomes are valuable diagnostic and prognostic tools in the treatment of cancer patients.

Summary: Alternative splicing is a common process in eukaryotic gene regulation, and it greatly enriches the complexity and diversity of mRNAs and proteins. Recent studies have found that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are also involved in alternative splicing, and abnormal expression of ncRNAs and ncRNA-related splicing events are implicated in cancer initiation, progression, and drug resistance. Therefore, targeting ncRNAs, splicing factors, and splicing-related antigens may have therapeutic potential in cancer treatment.

Summary: Prostate cancer is the most common tumor among men, and advanced prostate cancer often leads to death due to resistance to existing treatments. Immunotherapy, particularly immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), has shown great progress in solid tumor treatment, but has limited effectiveness in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have been identified as an ideal class of molecules for cancer treatment, and targeting related ncRNAs presents an opportunity to improve the effectiveness of immunotherapy in mCRPC.

Summary: Immune-checkpoint inhibitors are effective in treating lung cancer, but there is a need for better predictive biomarkers to identify patients who will benefit. This study found that high levels of TGF-beta in extracellular vesicles before treatment were a better predictor of response to ICIs and survival compared to circulating TGF-beta and tissue PD-L1.

Summary: This retrospective study investigated the impact of KRAS mutational status on clinical outcome in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The results showed that KRAS(MUT) patients had better response to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) but worse response to platinum doublet chemotherapy (PT). Additionally, KRAS(WT) patients with high PD-L1 expressing tumors responded better to PT than ICB.

Summary: Gliomas originate in the central nervous system and are categorized based on both histological and molecular genetic characteristics. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a crucial role in regulating tumorigenesis, tumor progression, and therapeutic resistance in glioma cells. Oncogenic lncRNAs and tumor-suppressive lncRNAs orchestrate signaling pathways that influence the pathogenesis and progression of gliomas, as well as the sensitivity to existing anticancer therapies. This review aims to enhance understanding of the impact of lncRNAs on signaling pathways in gliomas and their role in therapeutic resistance.

Summary: In this study, the researchers explored the possibility of using testis-specific long-chain non-coding RNA (lncRNA) Ret finger protein-like 3S (RFPL3S) as a biomarker for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response of testicular germ cell tumor (TGCT). Through analyzing gene expression data in various databases, they found that RFPL3S expression was significantly reduced in TGCT and correlated with patient's disease stage. They also observed that RFPL3S methylation and copy number were associated with disease-free and progression-free intervals. Furthermore, RFPL3S expression was linked to immune cell infiltration and could predict immunotherapy benefits in TGCT patients.
