Summary: This review synthesizes the impacts of congestion pricing policies on road user safety outcomes, finding that most studies focus on long-term impacts showing a reversal and eventual decrease in accidents and injuries. However, the relative scarcity of safety outcomes in published literature indicates the need for more research on this topic.

Summary: Ultra-endurance running (UER) has gained popularity in recent decades, but can result in musculoskeletal injuries (MSKI) due to excessive stress on the body. Different types of UER competitions and training have varying rates and locations of MSKI, highlighting the need for further research to understand more about MSKI.

Summary: Self-harm is a growing issue with increasing prevalence rates, but individuals who engage in self-harm often do not receive treatment. Mobile health (mHealth) interventions have been developed as a potential solution to this issue and have been shown to be effective in improving mental health. A scoping review of mHealth interventions for self-harm was conducted to gain a more comprehensive understanding, identifying various types of interventions, their features, research findings, and typical outcomes used for assessment. Promising mHealth interventions have been developed, but there is a need for wider availability, greater diversity in research samples, and a more nuanced understanding of recovery from self-harm.

Summary: This review summarizes the safety, efficacy, and patient satisfaction associated with outpatient thyroidectomies, as well as editorializes the most recent American Thyroid Association guidelines. The results show that outpatient thyroidectomy is safe, associated with high patient satisfaction, and decreased health costs when rigorous institutional protocols are established and implemented.

Summary: Pharmacovigilance programs protect patient health and safety by identifying adverse event signals. Electronic health records (EHRs) provide new opportunities for pharmacovigilance. However, current efforts in utilizing EHRs for safety signal identification are limited by variability in study design and failure to control for confounding. Developing best practices and common data models would promote the expansion of EHR-based pharmacovigilance.

Summary: The research indicates that full-face helmets may provide better protection for motorcycle riders' head and facial injuries compared to open-face and half-coverage helmets, but there is insufficient evidence for superior neck protection among these three helmet types. The retention system and fixation status of helmets are important factors affecting the risk of head and brain injury in motorcyclists.

Summary: The use of 7 Tesla MRI in neurosurgery and neurology is expanding, but safety testing of neurosurgical implants at 7 T is limited. This study assessed the current state of safety of neurosurgical implants at 7 T and identified several implants that are likely compatible. However, caution is needed with certain implants, and it is important to follow ASTM standards in testing.

Summary: This study conducted a scoping review of national sports injury prevention strategies worldwide, finding that the majority of studies demonstrated positive effects of the prevention strategies. However, only a small portion of the strategies reported on the implementation context, indicating an important reporting gap. Future research needs to focus more on intervention implementation data and implementation context.

Summary: This article conducted a scoping review of academic literature to understand the knowledge on disability and pedestrian-motor vehicle collisions. The results consistently showed a higher risk of collisions, injuries, and fatalities among disabled people, with individualized factors such as walking speed and crossing decisions playing a role. However, the influence of social/political environments on injury risk was less explored. More research is needed to assess how inaccessible or disabling environments may increase the risk of pedestrian injury among disabled populations.

Summary: This review examines the impact of psychosocial safety climate (PSC) on the health, safety, and performance of workers. The results show that PSC directly affects job demands, job insecurity, effort-reward imbalance, work-family conflict, job resources, job control, and quality leadership. It also directly influences social relations at work, including workplace abuse, violence, discrimination, and harassment. Furthermore, PSC moderates the impact of excessive job demands on workers' health and safety, and enhances the effect of job resources on workers' well-being, safety, and performance.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical features and outcomes of mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19 infection who develop pneumothorax, pneumomediastinum, and subcutaneous emphysema. Through a systematic review of existing studies, it was found that patient mortality was significantly associated with positive pressure ventilation, but not with chest tube insertion or the time interval from symptom onset to pneumothorax diagnosis. Deceased patients had a higher average age.

Summary: This study found that the Covid-19 pandemic had a negative impact on the utilization of primary health care in Iran. The percentage of actual delivered services decreased, as well as the weighted average of essential services provided by different healthcare professionals. Therefore, it is important to enhance preparedness for pandemics and develop programs and interventions to address the weaknesses in primary health care.
