Summary: Ratiometric fluorometry is an effective method for detecting target objects with reduced background interference. Gadolinium-doped carbon dots (Gd-Cdots) offer good fluorescence properties, high T-1 relaxivity, and excellent biocompatibility, making them ideal nano-sensors for dual-mode imaging. The Gd-Cdots-based nano-sensor shows higher sensitivity, lower detection limit, wider linear range, and less background interference in detecting morin, and has been successfully applied in detecting morin in human urine and living cells.

Summary: Novel dual-emission fluorescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) were synthesized and used as a ratiometric fluorescent and colorimetric dual-signal probe for indigo carmine (IC) detection with high selectivity and sensitivity. The N-CDs showed dual-emitting peaks at 435 nm and 578 nm under a single excitation and the fluorescence at 578 nm was effectively quenched by IC. The addition of IC caused a linear increase in the ratiometric fluorescent value and a linear colorimetric response.

Summary: An ultrasensitive and reliable ratiometric sensor was designed for the detection of ciprofloxacin. The sensor utilized thiolate-protected gold nanoclusters (GSH@AuNCs) with high fluorescence quantum yield and stability. In the presence of lanthanum (La3+) ions, the emission of GSH@AuNCs was increased due to the formation of La3+/GSH@AuNCs system and aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE). However, the addition of ciprofloxacin resulted in the removal of La3+ ions from GSH@AuNCs, leading to a decrease in fluorescence emission. Under optimized conditions, the sensor showed linear response to ciprofloxacin concentration and demonstrated high reliability and sensitivity in the detection of ciprofloxacin in human urine and milk samples.

Summary: In this study, excitation-dependent fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized through a one-pot hydrothermal process using mango pulps as precursors. It was discovered that the ozone-treated CDs (O-3-CDs) could stabilize the diimine form of oxidized 3,3 ',5,5 '-tetramethylbenzidine (diimine oxTMB). A dual-mode colorimetry and ratiometric fluorescence method using O-3-CDs and TMB as probes was developed for detecting sarcosine. The method exhibited selective detection with low detection limits and improved analytical performance through built-in correction and stabilization of diimine oxTMB.
