Summary: This study investigated the persistence of etanercept monotherapy and monotherapy with other TNFis in patients first achieving remission/LDA while on combination therapy. Results showed that etanercept demonstrated higher persistence at 6 and 12 months compared to other TNFis, and remission was a key predictor of persistence for both treatments. Patients on etanercept monotherapy experienced greater persistence and less frequent reintroduction of csDMARD compared to other TNFi monotherapies.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of conventional and targeted disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (cDMARDs and tDMARDs) in treating enthesitis in psoriatic arthritis (PsA). The results showed that regardless of the medication used, 86% of patients experienced resolution of enthesitis during the observation period.

Summary: Analysis of the FAERS database revealed that SSRI drugs are associated with a higher risk of inducing mania in patients with bipolar disorder, with fluvoxamine showing the largest effect size. Significant effects were found for Ki values of H1 and M1 receptors, while receptor occupancy did not appear to have an effect. Further pharmacological data and clinical assessments are needed to validate these findings.

Summary: This study identifies five groups of individuals with homogeneous clinical characteristics based on symptoms of manic and/or irritable mood. The study explores differences between these groups in terms of diagnoses, functional outcomes, and genetic liability. The findings suggest that data-driven investigations of psychopathological symptoms can complement research on clinical diagnoses and contribute to the development of improved classification systems for mood disorders.

Summary: The study found that patients with bipolar disorder have lower levels of mitochondrial DNA copy number, particularly during manic episodes. These low levels were negatively correlated with mood and psychotic symptom scales, but positively correlated with severity scales. Additionally, they were correlated with high levels of certain inflammatory markers.

Summary: Preventing joint deformity is an important goal in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis. Some biologics disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) have been shown to be effective for both the skin and joints, as well as for slowing radiographic progression. However, there is currently a lack of direct comparisons of bDMARDs.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and drug tolerability of biological DMARD (bDMARD) and Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi) monotherapy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The study found that IL-6Ri monotherapy was superior to TNFi monotherapy in terms of effectiveness and drug retention, while no significant differences were identified between CTLA4Ig and JAKi monotherapy and TNFi monotherapy.

Summary: We developed a web-based evidence-based decision aid to support shared decision-making in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) who face a treatment decision to initiate or switch a biological or targeted synthetic disease modifying antirheumatic drug (b/tsDMARDs). The decision aid was developed through an iterative process based on evidence from the literature, needs assessment interviews, and expert input. The decision aid was then introduced in clinical practice through a multifaceted strategy.

Summary: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized the treatment of several malignancies but have limited efficacy in certain difficult-to-treat cancer types. Recent research suggests that specific chemotherapy regimens can modify the tumor microenvironment, leading to changes in immune responses. Therefore, the combination of ICIs and cytotoxic chemotherapy shows promise in treating previously unresponsive cancers.

Summary: In schizophrenia, self-stigma is influenced by psychotic and depressive symptomatology, workplace stigma, and varies across countries. This meta-analysis synthesizes observational studies on self-stigma and its associated factors. The results show that self-stigma levels remain consistent over time and are influenced by factors such as living in non-urban areas, low income, unemployment, high antipsychotic dose, and low functioning. Additionally, self-stigma dimensions differ between European and other regions. The study highlights the need to explore additional factors to improve interventions targeting self-stigma.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic meta-analysis to investigate the comorbidity of mental disorders in individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR-P). The results showed that over three-quarters of CHR-P subjects have comorbid mental disorders, which significantly impact their baseline functioning and transition to psychosis. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct transdiagnostic mental health assessments in individuals at CHR-P.

Summary: The reproducibility crisis in animal studies threatens the credibility of their findings, which are important for human studies. The ARRIVE reporting guidelines aim to improve transparency, but compliance and awareness are still suboptimal. Alongside reporting guidelines, better training, improved research design, registration practices, and aligning rewards with rigorous animal research may be more effective in improving reproducibility.

Summary: The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis show that the risk of premature death in patients with bipolar disorder is not only related to suicide and unnatural causes, but also to physical comorbidities. Therefore, in addition to suicide prevention, promoting physical health and preventing physical conditions in individuals with bipolar disorder may reduce premature mortality risk.

Summary: This study conducted a network meta-analysis on antipsychotic-induced sialorrhea. The results showed that dopamine receptor antagonists, metoclopramide, and sulpiride were effective in treating sialorrhea, while antihistamines and atropine showed no significant effect on nocturnal sialorrhea. This study provides some guidance for the treatment of antipsychotic-related sialorrhea.
