Summary: The study investigates the heat transfer enhancement of a confined impinging jet using rough surfaces, pin fins, and modified nozzles. A guiding baffle is introduced to enhance the cooling process of a single confined air jet impinging on a flat plate. The effects of Reynolds number, guiding baffle diameter-tonozzle diameter ratio, and guiding baffle height-to-nozzle to impinging plate distance ratio on the cooling process are studied. Experimental results show that installing a guiding baffle with a diameter-to-nozzle diameter ratio of 2 enhances heat transfer, and an empirical correlation is proposed to predict the average Nusselt number based on the Reynolds number, diameter ratio, and height ratio.
