Summary: Timely identification of transmission line outages is crucial for situational awareness and preventing the propagation of system disturbances. This paper proposes a method for monitoring line outages and identifying the sequence of events before the line gets disconnected. The method uses the bus impedance matrix to derive a transfer function and identifies the disconnected line based on squared residuals. Extensive simulations show that the proposed method outperforms existing ones in terms of speed and robustness.

Summary: This study proposed a novel method to calculate SSR impedance/power based on synchrophasors provided by a wide-area monitoring system. Through mathematical derivation, it was revealed that a synchrophasor under SSR is dominated by four modes: two from the fundamental frequency and two from the SSR frequency, which can be transformed to a modal parameter extraction. The performances of two classic MPE algorithms were verified using synthetic signals and electromagnetic transient simulations, and the method was applied to an actual SSR incident involving 23 wind farms with findings suggesting that 17 of 23 wind farms did not contribute negative damping.

Summary: This study proposes an online control strategy to enhance the overall damping of low-frequency power system oscillations in large interconnected electrical networks. The approach utilizes wide area measured signals to estimate an accurate online model of power system dynamics using the DMDc method, and designs a wide area damping controller using DLQR. Kalman filtering is used to update the controller states and remove noise from the measured signals, with the effectiveness of the method tested on the New England test system.

Summary: This paper focuses on a comprehensive stability study of a two-area power system with wind power integration and synthetic inertia control, considering the effects of varying the interconnection link. Simulations show that local optimal feedback gains can be found, preserving the stability of the global system under significant variations in the interconnection link. The results highlight the benefits of synthetic inertia control, particularly in low-inertia situations.
