Summary: This study investigated the performance of LTE and 5GTN in real-time exchanges of road weather and traffic data, concluding that 5GTN outperformed LTE in both V2V and V2I scenarios. Comparison based on bandwidth, throughput, packet loss, and latency showed that both technologies met the minimum requirements of the ITS-Assisted platform for enhanced road traffic safety, with clear potential for heterogeneous use in future field tests.

Summary: Cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) is a communication technology that supports various applications in safety, mobility, and environment, characterized by higher reliability compared to other technologies. The performance of C-V2X-enabled intelligent transportation system (ITS) applications is influenced by the C-V2X communication technology (mainly packet loss), while the communication performance is affected by the vehicular traffic density, which is determined by traffic mobility patterns and vehicle routing strategies.

Summary: Communication among ships is crucial for effective cooperation and action-taking, especially in ship collision avoidance. This article reviews ship collision avoidance methods proposed in the past decade from the perspectives of communication and cooperation, introducing innovative indices such as the communication index and the cooperation index. The overview of existing research indicates that collision risks are commonly exchanged information, while weak cooperation based on predefined protocols dominates, and competition and high-level cooperation receive increasing attention. The analysis of the two indices emphasizes that communication is the foundation of cooperation, and future research should focus on cooperation among heterogeneous ships, stability of the communication network, obtaining required information, and interpreting COLREGs and seamanship quantitatively.

Summary: This paper establishes a hierarchical architecture for trajectory planning and control for safe driving with multiple participants using time-varying model predictive control methodology. A high-level planner formulates an optimal control problem to obtain an optimal trajectory, while a low-level controller computes an appropriate steering angle to execute the planned maneuver. This framework combines different constraints in each optimal control problem, ensuring feasibility of safe trajectory planning and tracking stability for safe driving.

Summary: The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is crucial for the development of intelligent transportation systems and autonomous vehicles, enabling efficient communication both inside and outside vehicles. Cognitive radio (CR) technology enhances data transfer rates and bandwidth, meeting the future demand for faster data transmission. This study focuses on effective spectrum management for CR-equipped automobiles, proposing an improved channel decision model to optimize transmission speed, minimize delays, and reduce handoffs.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a growing focus on improving intersection traffic safety due to the increase in vehicles and the introduction of autonomous and cooperative driving systems. This paper introduces the Intersection Traffic Safety Framework (ITSF) which utilizes artificial intelligence and vehicle-to-everything technologies to reduce collisions at road intersections. The framework incorporates a collision avoidance mechanism that utilizes vehicle-to-infrastructure communications and a machine learning model to classify vehicles. The proposed approach shows high effectiveness in ensuring road users' safety, with a penetration rate of 60% or higher resulting in a significant reduction in collisions and nearly 98% accuracy in classifying risky vehicles.

Summary: Approximately 350,000 vulnerable road users die each year due to collisions with vehicles. VRU collision avoidance systems aim to reduce these fatalities, with existing sensor-based systems on vehicles showing potential in decreasing accidents but requiring line-of-sight between the vehicle and VRU. Cooperative VRU collision avoidance systems with portable devices on VRU may offer a solution to this limitation.

Summary: This letter investigates a multi-agent path planning problem in a road network with the requirement of avoiding collisions among all agents in the partitioned environment. The authors abstract the agents to a set of transition systems and construct a team transition system. A mechanism is designed to detect collisions within the synthesized run. Then, wait and go-back transitions are added to the individual transition systems to eliminate all possible collisions in the team transition system. Two examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Summary: VANET was established with the aim of saving lives by reducing the number of accidents on public roads. To achieve this objective, VANETs mobiles need to exchange Road State Information (RSI) and take actions based on the received information. Ensuring the quality of the transmission link is essential, and Link Adaptation (LA) adjusts the payload based on Channel State Information (CSI). Existing LA methods in VANETs have not considered the impact of relative mobility among nodes, but the proposed Neural Network (NN) approach shows significant improvements in transmission duration, transmitted bit, and model efficiency compared to other algorithms.

Summary: In a high-speed palletizing machine, multiple robotic manipulators are used to move packages of various sizes to achieve the desired final layout. The selection of insertion sequence and robot manipulations plays a critical role in the throughput of the palletizing process. This research presents a Dynamic Programming-based algorithm and reduction techniques to find the shortest package sequence and corresponding robot manipulations for maximizing production. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
