This paper uses a visibility graph model to analyze time series data from the global fuel export trade, revealing the characteristics of fuel trade in different countries. It has significant guiding significance for understanding the global fuel market and formulating scientific fuel security policies.
Fuel is the cornerstone of a nation's economy, and energy policy is a crucial part of national security. Therefore, it is very important to model and analyze the fuel trade. In this paper, a dynamic system by a visibility graph model is constructed to analyze time series data from the global fuel export trade. This paper analyses the fuel export trade of various countries, and the characteristics of fuel trade in different countries are identified by the visibility graph. According to the characteristics of the fuel export time series network, the examined countries are categorized, and the global fuel export market is divided into three groups. It has important guiding significance for understanding the global fuel market and formulating scientific fuel security policies.(c) 2021 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

The dynamics of epidemic spreading on signed networks

Hui-Jia Li, Wenzhe Xu, Shenpeng Song, Wen-Xuan Wang, Matjaz Perc

Summary: In recent years, research on epidemic spreading on complex networks has been successful, but the dynamics of epidemic spreading on signed networks have received little attention. This study proposes a modified signed epidemiological model, incorporating positive and negative transmission rates based on structural balance theory, to investigate the impact of structural balance on epidemic dynamics. Through simulations and theoretical analysis, the study reveals the influence of network structure on epidemic spreading.

Impact of resource-based conditional interaction on cooperation in spatial social dilemmas

Xiaopeng Li, Weiwei Han, Wenjun Yang, Juan Wang, Chengyi Xia, Hui-jia Li, Yong Shi

Summary: Due to the conflict between limited resources and infinite demand, the impact of limited resources on human behavior cannot be ignored. In this study, a resource-based conditional interaction model is proposed to investigate the evolution of cooperation. The model is validated using the prisoner's dilemma game and asynchronous strategy update. The results demonstrate that promoting cooperation can be achieved through an optimal tolerance interval.

Properties analysis of refugee populations around the world: A visibility graph network approach

Lubing Wang, Haitao Ji, Xiaojun Peng, Lanyan Zeng, Jun Hu, Sha Zhu, Fujun Lai, Huijia Li

Summary: This paper analyzes the number of refugees in 156 countries from 1990 to 2020 and transforms the refugee population data of these countries into a complex network using the time series visibility graph (VG) method. It categorizes the income level of these countries and analyzes the impact of income level on refugee numbers. The TOPSIS comprehensive evaluation method based on the entropy weight approach is then employed to analyze the data. The study shows that the VG method and the TOPSIS evaluation method provide new perspectives and methods for studying the global refugee population growth trend.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to identify key leaders in real-life networks using a multi-agent leader-follower consensus system and defines a new index called leadership. The paper explores the emergence of network segregation driven by these leaders through the removal or rewiring of relations between nodes based on their contribution distance. The observed leaders-driven segregation dynamics reveals the dynamics of heterogeneous attributes that critically influence network structure and segregation.

Development of a contact force model with a fluid damping factor for immersed collision events

Gengxiang Wang, Yang Liu, Caishan Liu

Summary: This investigation studies the impact behavior of a contact body in a fluidic environment. A dissipated coefficient is introduced to describe the energy dissipation caused by hydrodynamic forces. A new fluid damping factor is derived to depict the coupling between liquid and solid, as well as the coupling between solid and solid. A new coefficient of restitution (CoR) is proposed to determine the actual physical impact. A new contact force model with a fluid damping factor tailored for immersed collision events is proposed.
