Summary: The exclusion of people with disability from research has limited the evidence base and perpetuated inequalities in access to health services. Online qualitative methods can effectively engage under-represented groups and ensure their input into health policy and systems research. Researchers have a responsibility to make health research disability inclusive, and recommendations and lessons learned can facilitate the participation of people with disabilities.

Summary: Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems are crucial for obtaining reliable data on births, deaths, and causes of death. However, the CRVS system in Indonesia currently faces challenges in producing accurate vital statistics for evidence-based health action. This study conducted a detailed assessment and gap analysis of the CRVS system and implemented revised death reporting procedures at the local level, demonstrating feasibility and sustainability.

Summary: Health policy and systems research is crucial for developing effective health systems. However, there is a lack of capacity for this type of research, especially in low-income and middle-income countries. This paper proposes a comprehensive framework for systemic capacity strengthening in health research, highlighting the importance of collective, organizational, and network-level efforts. The framework also emphasizes the need to address power dynamics in capacity strengthening work.

Summary: The latest public health emergencies have exposed gaps in health promotion, prevention, and preparedness. The prevalence of existing and new infectious diseases exceeded expectations, and inequities in healthcare access led to varying disease burdens within populations. The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the need to prevent chronic diseases, promote healthy lifestyles, and prepare for the long-term effects of new infectious diseases on physical and mental health. A broad approach, involving stakeholders and reallocating resources, is necessary for effective health promotion, prevention, and preparedness.

Summary: Current performance management approaches in low- and middle-income countries health systems tend to be directive and lack consideration for the complexity of dynamic health systems. An enabling approach, focusing on intrinsic motivation and team empowerment, may be more appropriate in certain contexts. The complexity of health systems highlights the need for tailored interventions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to performance management.

Summary: This systematic review aims to assess the effectiveness of interventions delivered by community-based rehabilitation (CBR) centers on the physical fitness of community-dwelling older adults in Asian countries. The review will include studies conducted in Asian countries using experimental or quasi-experimental designs. The findings of the review will provide high-quality evidence for CBR in Asian countries with aging populations and will inform healthcare systems in other countries that use CBR.
