Summary: This study analyzes tracking suspicious communications using NOMA technology in a wireless surveillance system where eavesdropping is considered legal. It investigates power allocation policies for jamming signals of the legitimate monitor, deriving closed-form expressions for successful eavesdropping probability for the best and worst users to evaluate system performance. Monte Carlo simulations are used to verify analytical results.

Summary: This article presents a method of employing a hybrid reflecting-backscatter intelligent surface to enable proactive eavesdropping in a wireless information surveillance system. The intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is used to reflect the signal from the source, while other elements convert the signal into artificial noise using backscatter techniques. Three strategies, including Enhancing-Strategy, Jamming-Strategy, and Hybrid-Strategy, are proposed to maximize the proactive eavesdropping rate. Simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes.

Summary: This paper proposes proactive eavesdropping as a means to improve the performance of wireless information surveillance through authorized monitors. When no monitor is available, unsuspicious users are authorized to surveil suspicious users, ensuring their quality-of-service (QoS). The paper focuses on optimizing the transmit power and IGS circularity coefficient to maximize the average eavesdropping rate and shows that IGS outperforms proper Gaussian signaling in most cases.

Summary: In this paper, we propose a novel simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS)-assisted proactive eavesdropping strategy to address the trade-off between concealment and eavesdropping performance in wireless surveillance. By deploying a STAR-RIS between the monitor and the suspicious system, reflection and transmission are implemented to vary the channel power gains, thereby facilitating eavesdropping.

Summary: This paper presents a system that utilizes UAVs for eavesdropping with the help of spoofing relay technology to improve proactive eavesdropping efficiency. The problem of optimizing the amplification coefficient, splitting ratio, and UAV's trajectory is addressed, considering successful monitoring. A successive convex approximation based alternate iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the nonconvex problem. Simulation results demonstrate that the UAV as an active eavesdropper can effectively increase the information eavesdropping rate.

Summary: This letter studies jamming-assisted proactive eavesdropping over multiple orthogonal suspicious links with a wireless-powered monitor. The objective is to maximize the minimum eavesdropping success probability of the monitor for all received suspicious signals. A tight approximation of the Lambert function and successive convex approximation (SCA)-based technique are proposed to solve the complex problem. A parallel coordinate descent (PCD)-based low-complexity algorithm is also introduced to obtain a sub-optimal solution.

Summary: This study proposes using intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) to enhance proactive eavesdropping by jointly affecting both the suspicious and eavesdropping channels, and is the first to employ cooperative passive beamforming in the double-IRS aided monitoring system. The passive phase shift matrices of double IRSs are jointly designed to optimize eavesdropping capability. The non-convex optimization problem is divided into two subproblems and an alternating algorithm is proposed for solution. Results show the effectiveness of cooperative passive beamforming design over traditional schemes.

Summary: This paper investigates UAV-enabled proactive eavesdropping over distributed transmit beamforming-based suspicious communications. The approximated distributions of the receiving SINR at D and the UAV are characterized in closed form using the Laguerre series approximation and the central limit theorem. A novel and low-complexity solution is proposed in the high SNR regime to maximize the minimum eavesdropping success probability of the UAV for those suspicious communications links.
