Summary: The study found a negative correlation between breastfeeding duration and lipid profile in children and adolescents, with this association increasing in magnitude with longer breastfeeding duration. Prolonged breastfeeding was associated with lower lipid levels and decreased risk of abnormal lipids, especially in children and young adolescents aged 5-14 years. This suggests that encouraging extended breastfeeding can improve childhood lipid profiles.

Summary: The study found that serum Metrnl levels were reduced in individuals with overweight or obesity and were independently associated with adverse lipid profile. This finding suggests that modifying circulating Metrnl levels may serve as a potential therapeutic target for atherogenic dyslipidemia.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of phytosterols and phytostanols (PS) supplementation on the lipid profile in postmenopausal women through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The results showed that PS supplementation significantly decreased total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, but had no effect on triglyceride (TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations. The reduction in TC and LDL-C was more pronounced when the PS dose was ≥ 2 g/day and when administered to overweight or obese participants. Further research is needed to establish the clinical efficacy of PS usage in postmenopausal females.

Summary: The study found that baseline dyslipidemia may be associated with an increased risk of re-positive or in-hospital death in COVID-19 patients, and lipid levels also change throughout the course of the disease. Additionally, there is a relationship between inflammatory biomarkers, organ function indicators, and lipid levels in patients.

Summary: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the differences in lipid profile levels between patients with primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) and healthy controls. The results showed that women with POI had significantly elevated levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low density lipoprotein, while the level of high density lipoprotein did not change significantly. Subgroup analysis suggested that the heterogeneity in the correlation between lipid profile and POI might be influenced by region, sample size, number of cases, mean body mass index, and mean age.

Summary: The meta-analysis found that vitamin C supplementation significantly decreased TG and TC levels in T2DM patients, but did not affect LDL and HDL. Duration of treatment and dose of vitamin C were found to influence the improvement of lipid profile in T2DM patients. Results suggest that long-term vitamin C supplementation may be more beneficial for improving lipid profile in diabetic populations.

Summary: The relationship between dyslipidemia and atrial fibrillation (AF) is significant, with potential lipid-related mechanisms impacting AF development such as cell membrane properties, LDL-receptors reduction, reverse cholesterol transport, adiposity-induced inflammation, apoptosis, and autophagy.

Summary: The study showed that decreased levels in specific components of lipid profile are associated with more decompensation events, worse liver function, and reduced survival in patients with liver cirrhosis. MELD score combined with HDL-c may be promising for assessing outcomes of cirrhotic patients.

Summary: A study on 38 individuals from Romania who have adopted a plant-based diet for at least one year showed that the diet led to improvements in body mass index (BMI) and most lipid markers, except for high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). The study confirmed the positive effects of a plant-based diet on dyslipidemic disorders.

Summary: This study summarized meta-analyses on the effects of chromium supplementation on lipid profiles in adults. The results showed that chromium supplementation did not have a significant effect on blood lipid levels and cannot be used as a single therapy for treating lipid abnormalities in adults.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the lipid profiles and associated factors among stroke patients. The results showed that stroke patients had significantly higher levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and significantly lower levels of triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol compared to controls. Dyslipidemia was found in 51.1% of stroke patients. Factors such as smoking, being female, alcohol consumption, diabetes, and high body mass index were significantly associated with dyslipidemia. Efforts should be made to address these lipid abnormalities through lifestyle modification, health education, and lipid reduction therapies.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a new surgical approach for uterine preservation in patients with placenta accreta spectrum in a low-resource setting. The results showed that the surgical approach resulted in a high uterine preservation rate, with less intraoperative and postoperative morbidity and a reduced need for blood transfusion.
