Summary: The article analyzes how specific economic policies, such as privatization of the Dominican sugar industry, could lead to new forms of individual subjection based on debt trap. By examining historical and theoretical literature on the Caribbean region and ethnographic evidence from a young Haitian migrant working in sugarcane cutting, it reveals the concrete dynamics of working relationships in Dominican sugar estates, demonstrating a connection between private management of the sugar industry and working conditions related to debt bondage.

Summary: The objective of this study was to verify the influence of knowledge and dietary habits on overweight based on the residential area (urban or rural). A questionnaire was administered to 451 individuals, residents of the basic health area of Villaviciosa (Asturias, Spain), aged between 35 and 65 years, distributed in urban and rural areas, comprising questions about sociodemographic data, habits, and nutritional knowledge. Relative frequencies (%) were calculated for qualitative variables, and arithmetic means (standard deviations) for quantitative variables. Pearson correlation was used to determine the relationship between the score on the nutrition knowledge questionnaire and the body mass index (BMI). Chi-square test was employed to study the relationship between each habit questionnaire question and the residential area. Independent t-test was performed to compare the mean BMI between the residential areas. Logistic regressions were conducted to calculate the odds ratios (OR) between the dependent variable (overweight) and sociodemographic variables. The results showed that the average age of the respondents was 49.96 years and the average BMI was 26.87 kg/m(2), with a total overweight prevalence of 57.6%. Not reading nutritional labels increased the risk of overweight (OR = 2.2; p = 0.001); considering oneself to overeat frequently increased the likelihood of overweight (OR = 8.6; p < 0.001); eating out several times a week (OR = 11.6; p = 0.019), as well as consuming processed soft drinks or juices (OR = 3.3; p = 0.013) and low-grade alcohol (OR = 2.8; p = 0.003) during meals increased the probability of overweight. In conclusion, dietary habits and patterns of physical activity are the main factors contributing to overweight. Adequate knowledge in the population can help develop a preventive plan to curb the growth of overweight and obesity.

Summary: In this speculative creative essay, a fictional group of cultural anthropologists from the Library of Galactica Poetry of the Great Khan on the Moon conducts a comparative study on two novels: Don Quixote and Kublai Moon. Despite their differences in time period and style, both novels are adventure stories with dual protagonists and share a marginality of language. The study aims to explore the similarities between the Baroque mentality of the 17th century and the neobaroque postmodernism, as well as the changes in concepts of identity, history, and memory in Spain.

Summary: This article focuses on the representation of the Republican exile in Spanish women's drama in the 21st century. From a marginal perspective compared to male playwrights, these women playwrights speak of the 1939 exile through texts that propose similar scenarios and characters. Throughout the work, we analyze part of the theatrical production of Laila Ripoll and Itziar Pascual from the perspective of studies on historical memory and the theater of memory. In this way, we see that the authors start from certain traumatic memories, rework them, and portray them on stage. This happens in La frontera (2003) and Jaula (2003), both structured around the thematic binomial of exile-forgetfulness. In these texts, a literary network seems to be established that attempts to denounce the failure of the de-exile and rescue the silenced discourses after the end of the Francoist dictatorship from oblivion. Likewise, we show that the mnemonic problem appears personified in the protagonists of the plays, Republican exiles, now elderly, condemned to a new exclusion by current society. In short, women's writing presents itself as a militant theater that recovers other marginalized voices to remember them and include them in the official narrative.

Summary: Primary membranous nephropathy is an autoimmune kidney disease and the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults, with the majority of cases caused by antibodies. Recent studies have shown that biological agents targeting autoantibody-producing cells are effective in controlling the disease. This review summarizes key concepts about the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of primary membranous nephropathy.

Summary: The Chilean Blue Patagonia is a crucial marine habitat and a global hub for the aquaculture industry. However, socio-environmental crises and conflicts have recently arisen, underscoring the impact of salmon farming on marine ecosystems and local communities. To address this, indigenous peoples have established Indigenous Marine Areas (ECMPO) to protect their livelihoods and preserve the ecosystems that sustain them. This study examines the care practices, strategies, and territorial dynamics of the ECMPOs, as well as the role of non-human entities in shaping care narratives and behaviors.
