The use of technology in special education has increased in recent years. Augmented reality (AR) combines real and virtual objects to support the development of skills in students with special needs. This systematic review investigates the effects of using AR for special education, including research designs, disability groups, taught skills, opinions of students and teachers, and its influence on learning performance. Findings show both advantages and disadvantages of using AR in special education.
