The study found that job insecurity had negative effects on employees' self-esteem and positive effects on economic deprivation. Additionally, social support was found to moderate the negative effects of job insecurity on mental health, self-esteem, economic self-efficacy, and life satisfaction, with stronger negative effects when social support was low. However, the results regarding economic deprivation were contrary to expectations, with job insecurity having a strong positive effect on economic deprivation in cases of high social support.
Using a time-lagged field survey, the current study examined the psycho-economic effects of job insecurity among hospitality workers during the recent pandemic of COVID-19. The study also examined social support as a buffering agent against the harmful effects of job insecurity. Data were collected from employees (N = 272) working in numerous hotels, restaurants, and travel agencies across Pakistan. Hierarchical moderated regression analysis was used to test the study's hypotheses. The results suggested that job insecurity was negatively related to self-esteem and positively related to economic deprivation. In addition, social support significantly moderated the effects of job insecurity on mental health, self-esteem, economic self-efficacy and life satisfaction such that the negative effects of job insecurity were stronger when social support was low. The results for economic deprivation, however, were contrary to the expectations, whereby job insecurity had a strong positive effect on economic deprivation in case of high social support.

Transformational versus transactional leadership styles and project success: A meta-analytic review

Muhammad Abbas, Raza Ali

Summary: Despite the increasing reliance on project teams and project-based organizations in recent decades, previous meta-analyses have neglected the examination of leadership styles in the context of projects. This study aimed to synthesize and investigate the contradictory evidence on the effects of transformational leadership and transactional leadership on project success through meta-analysis. The study also explored the moderating factors at both project-level and country-level. Based on 64 effect sizes from 41 primary studies, the findings revealed that transformational leadership had a stronger impact on project success compared to transactional leadership. The results also suggested that project-level factors (i.e., project size and project type) and country-level factors (i.e., power distance, collectivism, and economic status) played moderating roles in these relationships.

Results showed that person-organization fit and person-job fit are negatively associated with employee turnover intention, with employee engagement playing a mediating role. Additionally, psychological contract violation was found to weaken the indirect effects of fit on turnover intention for employees with high violation levels.

Nexus of knowledge management and organizational performance: a cross-country study of China and Pakistan higher educational institutes

Asha Thomas, M. Saleem Ullah Khan Sumbal, Mehwish Malik, Umar Farooq Sahibzada

Summary: The study examines the impact of trust and organizational climate on knowledge management processes, and the indirect effect of these processes on organizational performance through the mediating role of knowledge worker satisfaction in cross-cultural settings. The findings suggest that trust and organizational climate influence knowledge management processes, which in turn impact organizational performance through the partial mediating effect of knowledge worker satisfaction in Pakistan. The study also confirms the significant differential effect of knowledge management processes on knowledge worker satisfaction in culturally different higher education institutions, and the full mediation in China. However, the impact of knowledge management processes on organizational performance is not substantiated in China.

Interactive effects of consumers' ethical beliefs and authenticity on ethical consumption and pro-environmental behaviors

Sarah Khan, Muhammad Abbas

Summary: This study conducted field surveys in three major metropolitan cities in Pakistan to examine the relationships between ethical beliefs (idealism and relativism) and pro-environmental behaviors (direct and indirect), as well as ethical consumption behavior. The study also explored the moderating role of consumer authenticity in these relationships. The findings showed that idealism had a positive association with ethical consumption behavior and pro-environmental direct behavior, but not with pro-environmental indirect behavior. Relativism was positively related to ethical consumption behavior, but not to both types of pro-environmental behaviors. Additionally, consumer authenticity significantly moderated the relationships between idealism and all ethical outcomes. Implications for organizations, marketers, and policy makers are discussed.
