Summary: Market sentiment plays an important role in the Chinese housing market, affecting individuals' housing choices and consumption behavior. This study establishes a sentiment index and finds that rising housing prices are negatively correlated with the probability of becoming a homeowner and positively associated with consumption. The study also shows that having a mortgage can weaken the negative impact of homeownership on consumption, while higher sentiment increases the likelihood of homeownership but reduces non-housing consumption.

Summary: Open spaces provide a range of benefits in economic, social and environmental aspects, but population growth and changes in economic growth forms can lead to their conversion to developed uses. Different land-use policies can affect property values, but overlooking the impact of self-selection can result in biased policy assessments. The study finds that the introduction of a new development policy in Okotoks, Canada led to a decline in willingness to pay for open space and a reduction in residential real estate value, highlighting the importance of considering self-selection bias in policy evaluations.

Summary: The study revealed different relationships between engaged living and PIU among adolescents, identifying three subgroups based on a mixture regression model: High-PIU, Medium-PIU, and Low-PIU. The results suggest that prevention or intervention programs should be tailored specifically to subgroups with moderate or high levels of PIU and to those with lower levels of psychological needs' satisfaction.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of remittances on multidimensional energy poverty in Bangladesh using a nationally representative Household Income and Expenditure Survey. The findings suggest that households with remittance income have a significantly lower level of energy poverty. The authors argue that increasing remittance inflow can contribute to alleviating energy poverty in Bangladesh and other developing nations, and therefore, national programs should be established to promote migrant workers, reduce household energy costs, and invest in modern energy technologies.

Summary: The study investigates the impact of Internet use on technical efficiency in apple production in China, revealing that Internet users can enhance efficiency but there is still room for improvement. Over half of the surveyed farm households use the Internet to access technological information, and the self-selectivity bias can decrease efficiency if Internet is not utilized.

Summary: The presence of disabled students in a classroom has a significant negative impact on the academic achievement of their non-disabled classmates, attributed to their disability status rather than characteristics. The social spillovers of disabled students lead to worsened learning environment and increased social interactions with disruptive peers at school. However, there is no evidence that disabled students impair the learning efforts or educational aspirations of their non-disabled classmates in the same classroom.

Summary: This study examines the impact of perceptions of upward social mobility on life satisfaction using nationally representative data from the 2019 Chinese Social Survey. It finds that perceptions of upward social mobility have a significant positive impact on life satisfaction, and this effect is mediated by perceptions of social fairness and political trust. The study also investigates the moderating role of Internet use and finds that it attenuates the positive impact of perceptions of upward social mobility, particularly among males, urban residents, and younger adults.

Summary: This study used a nationally representative survey data from China and the generalized ordered logit model to examine the effect of multidimensional inequality on subjective well-being. The results showed that the rural sample had higher multidimensional inequality compared to urban respondents. Moreover, comparison analysis revealed geographical differences in multidimensional inequality across different regions of China. The findings of the generalized ordered logit model demonstrated that multidimensional inequality had heterogeneous effects on subjective well-being, with negative impacts on individuals with lower levels of SWB and positive effects on those who self-rated as happy. This study extended the existing literature by measuring inequality in a multidimensional setting and provided evidence on the effect of multidimensional inequality on subjective well-being.
