The study presents a method for direct alkylation and arylation of allylic C(sp(3))-H bonds under sunlight using CdSe quantum dots as catalysts, demonstrating a green and efficient approach to fine chemical production.
The efficient production of fine chemicals under mild and ecologically benign conditions represents a fundamental research goal in synthetic chemistry. In the May 13, 2021 issue of Chem, Wu and co-workers reported that CdSe quantumdots photocatalyzed direct alkylation and arylation of allylic C(sp(3))-H bonds with hydrogen evolution under sunlight.
