This paper discusses the application of augmented reality technology in Industry 4.0 and its contribution to the field. Through a comprehensive analysis of a large number of papers, key areas of AR application in I4.0 have been identified, with maintenance, assembly, and human-robot collaboration standing out as important areas. A proposed roadmap for AR application in companies and promising future research areas are also presented.
New technologies, such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things, wireless communications, etc., have already become part of our daily lives. This paper provides an insight into one of the new technologies, i.e., augmented reality (AR), as part of the manufacturing paradigm Industry 4.0 (I4.0). The aim of this paper is to contribute to the current state in the field of AR by assessing the main areas of the application of AR, the used devices and the tracking methods in support of the digitalization of the industry. Searches via Science Direct, Google Scholar and the Internet in general have resulted in the collection of a large number of papers. The examined works are classified according to several criteria and the most important data resulting from them are presented here. A comprehensive analysis of the literature has indicated the main areas of application of AR in I4.0 and, among these, those that stand out are maintenance, assembly and human robot collaboration. Finally, a roadmap for the application of AR in companies is proposed and the most promising future areas of research are listed.

Smart Intravenous Infusion Dosing System

Dragana Oros, Marko Pencic, Jovan Sulc, Maja Cavic, Stevan Stankovski, Gordana Ostojic, Olivera Ivanov

Summary: Intravenous (IV) infusion therapy is widely used in hospitals to directly administer medications into the bloodstream or for blood transfusions. The smart IV infusion dosing system presented in the paper allows real-time monitoring and alerting of IV therapy reception, facilitating timely bottle changes and potentially improving treatment outcomes.

Improving Energy Efficiency of Flexible Pneumatic Systems

Summary: The critical value for choosing the appropriate pneumatic actuator in pneumatic control system design is the weight of the workpiece. Energy efficient operation of machines in the Industry 4.0 concept is only achieved when handling the heaviest part with the pneumatic actuator. A new pressure regulator can provide real-time operating pressure modification according to the weight of the workpieces to ensure optimal compressed air consumption.

Reuse of Exhausted Air from Multi-Actuator Pneumatic Control Systems

Milan Seslija, Vule Reljic, Dragan Seslija, Slobodan Dudic, Nikolina Dakic, Zoran Jovanovic

Summary: This paper proposes a control scheme for improving the energy efficiency of multi-actuator pneumatic systems by recovering exhausted compressed air to achieve balanced operation. Compared with traditional motion control, significant energy savings can be achieved while maintaining the dynamic behavior of the cylinders from which the exhausted air is collected.

Automatic device for remote measuring of circularity: Development and implementation in education courses

Slobodan Dudic, Jovan Sulc, Vule Reljic, Brajan Bajci, Dragan Seslija, Ivana Milenkovic

Summary: With the advancement of technology, educational institutions around the world have shifted from traditional teaching methods to modern teaching with blended or completely online learning environments. The COVID-19 pandemic has made online teaching a necessity, leading to the use of remote physical devices for laboratory exercises. One such device is an automatic device for remote measurement of geometric tolerances, circularity, which was successfully implemented at the University of Novi Sad. Students were able to remotely control the device, measure deviations, and express satisfaction with the exercise implementation.
