Summary: The leaching kinetics of alumina extraction from coal gangue with hydrochloric acid was investigated. The effects of calcination activation temperature and leaching conditions on the alumina extraction efficiency were studied. The results showed that under the optimal conditions of a calcination temperature of 700°C, dissolution at 150°C for 2 hours in hydrochloric acid with a concentration of 20%, and a liquid-to-solid ratio of 3:1, the alumina extraction efficiency can reach 91.56%. Notably, lithium was also leached simultaneously with alumina, with a leaching rate of 80.00%. The leaching of alumina followed the shrinking unreacted core model and was controlled by a chemical reaction, with an activation energy of 45.64 kJ/mol.

Summary: This study proposed a novel scheme to transform titanium gypsum (TiG) into efficient adsorbents for phosphate recovery. The presence of waste sludge substantially improved the adsorption of TiG for phosphates. The decomposition of TiG could be enhanced by the byproducts and carbon from the calcination of waste sludge. The pelletization process did not negatively affect the adsorption ability.

Summary: The ferrous ion content of metatitanic acid can affect the whiteness, purity, and applications of TiO2, which is controlled by hydrolysis conditions and metatitanic acid structure. The structural evolution of metatitanic acid and removal of ferrous ion were investigated through hydrolysis of industrial TiOSO4 solution. The hydrolysis degree followed the Boltzmann model well. TiO2 content in metatitanic acid increased gradually during hydrolysis due to the aggregation and adjustment of precipitated particles, resulting in a stronger compact structure and weaker colloidal property.

Summary: Urban traffic pollution is influenced by urban morphology, and this study found that both traffic emissions and urban morphology determine the distribution of air pollutants in a city block. Factors such as distance from the road, building coverage ratio, and aspect ratio of the street canyon play a key role in the spatial distribution of air pollution. The developed Urban Morphology Pollution Index can help urban planners evaluate the impact of building groups on traffic pollution and reduce human exposure to street canyon level pollution through emission control or urban morphology improvement.

Summary: This study comprehensively estimates the global distribution of sulfate concentrations and radiative forcing (RF) and analyzes the sources of uncertainty in the models. The incorporation of in-cloud chemistry and enhanced wet deposition significantly improves the simulation of sulfur species, leading to a more accurate estimation of the global RF of sulfate. Wet deposition is found to be the key process governing the distribution of sulfate concentrations. The overestimation of surface sulfate and underestimation of high-altitude sulfate are essential uncertainty factors in sulfate RF estimation. The study highlights the importance of improving the simulation of global sulfate distribution and RF.

Summary: Recent evidences have shown that ZNF582 plays important roles in various tumors, but its role in ccRCC remains unclear. This study identified the low expression pattern of ZNF582 in ccRCC and demonstrated its correlation with tumor stage, grade, distant metastasis, and prognosis. It also confirmed the hypermethylation status of ZNF582 in ccRCC and its negative regulation on ZNF582 expression. Furthermore, ZNF582 overexpression was found to inhibit ccRCC growth and metastasis through upregulating TJP2 and suppressing ERK2 phosphorylation. These findings highlight the potential therapeutic target of ZNF582/TJP2/ERK2 axis in ccRCC treatment.

Summary: Our study further confirmed the reduced expression of CLDN10 in ccRCC and its association with tumor metastasis and poor prognosis using a large number of clinical samples. In vitro experiments demonstrated that CLDN10 overexpression promoted cell apoptosis and inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Mechanistically, CLDN10 overexpression upregulated the acetylation and expression levels of ATP5O, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction and ultimately suppressing the growth and metastasis of ccRCC through multiple signaling pathways.
