Summary: Silica gel-coated hydrotalcite flame retardants (SiLDHs-Ce) were prepared using the sol-gel method, and the synergistic effect of SiLDHs-Ce and expandable graphite (EG) on silicone rubber foam (SRF) was studied. The results show that SiLDHs-Ce and EG can improve the flame retardant properties of SRF materials.

Summary: Scars are the result of a natural wound healing process, and an imbalance in the four phases of homeostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling may lead to abnormal scar formation. Recent studies have shown improvements in scar appearance with the use of silicone gels containing natural herbal ingredients. The novel silicone-based gel containing copaiba oil was found to significantly improve scar appearance and satisfaction in patients with abnormal scars.

Summary: This study developed a microneedle patch with controlled transdermal dual-drug release for the combinatory treatment of keloid scars. The results showed that the dual-drug system could inhibit the proliferation of fibroblasts and prevent the generation of reactive oxygen species, effectively preventing the formation of keloid scars.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of quercetin on the functionality of myofibrillar proteins (MPs). The results showed that moderately high levels of quercetin can maintain the gel properties of MPs, possibly due to the moderate MP cross-linkage and aggregation caused by the covalent and non-covalent interactions of MPs.

Summary: The study showed that moisturizers have better effects than liquid silicone gel in promoting scar healing. They provide proper hydration and achieve good occlusion. This suggests that moisturizers can be used as an alternative scar hydration therapy to replace silicone products, offering a more cost-effective and patient-friendly application.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of sclareol, with or without caffeine and quercetin, using in vivo and in silico studies. The combination of sclareol, caffeine, and quercetin significantly decreased sleep duration and increased sleep onset latency. In addition, these compounds showed stronger interactions with GABAA receptor subunits compared to caffeine, suggesting their potential as antidepressant agents.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of a class I pullulan-based medical device containing Allium cepa extract 5% and hyaluronic acid 5% gel versus a class I medical device silicone gel on new post-surgical wounds. The results showed a significant reduction in scar scores in the subjects using the device containing Allium cepa and HA. Molecular docking simulations also indicated that Allium cepa inhibited fibroblast proliferation and contraction via the TGF-beta/Smad signal pathway.

Summary: The traditional silicone sheet therapy for hypertrophic scars has limitations, and a new design integrating a customized silicone sheet and pressure sleeve is proposed in this study. By using 3D printing and finite element analysis, the silicone elastomer can be precisely tailored to the shape of the scar, resulting in a more effective treatment.
