Summary: In this study, the R1 type receptor (CiIL-20R1/CRFB8) and the R2 type receptor (CiIL-20R2/ CRFB16) were identified in grass carp. The expression analysis showed that IL-20R2 was highly expressed in the gills and skin of healthy fish. Infection with Flavobacterium columnare resulted in the downregulation of both receptors in the gill, while infection with grass carp reovirus induced their expression in the head kidney and spleen.

Summary: Th2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 play a key role in promoting cell proliferation and mammary gland development during pregnancy, with the signaling crosstalk between IL-4/IL-13 and insulin further enhancing this process.

Summary: The study found that cutting off the tail of grass carp carcass has a positive impact on surimi production, increasing yield and gel properties. In contrast, cutting off the belly decreases yield, with minimal effects on composition and aroma profile.

Summary: This study investigated the protein changes in silver carp muscle during brine curing and air-drying processes. The results showed that protein aggregation increased after air-drying, while cathepsin activity also increased. However, the total free amino acid content did not significantly change. Therefore, protein changes in silver carp muscle were mainly due to degradation.

Summary: The IL-4/IL-13 signaling axis plays a crucial role in the development of lower urinary tract symptoms. IL-4 and IL-13 promote the activation of prostate fibroblasts and the secretion of extracellular matrix, leading to fibrosis. These findings have important clinical implications for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms.

Summary: This study explores how SP-A enhances the effects of IL-4 on macrophage proliferation and effector functions through the activation of PI3K-dependent branched pathways. SP-A can amplify IL-4-mediated signaling, promote AM proliferation and alternative activation by activating the mTORC1 and GSK3 branches.

Summary: This study found that infection with spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) can induce the expression of carp IL-10 and upregulate it through the JAK-STAT, NF-κB, and p38 MAPK pathways.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) develops from uncontrolled cell growth after hepatocytes undergo malignant transformation. The hepatitis B virus (HBV) X protein (HBx) can induce cell cycle progression and hepatocarcinogenesis. Sirtuin 4 (SIRT4), a mitochondrial protein, plays a tumor-suppressive role in HCC, with lower expression in HBV-related HCC tissues. Our study reveals the interaction between HBV and SIRT4 in HCC, suggesting SIRT4's involvement in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis in hepatocarcinogenesis.

Summary: The effects of repeated deboning on the yield, structure, composition, and gelling properties of silver carp surimi were investigated. The results showed that the surimi yield increased with the increase of deboning cycles, the structure of muscle fibers fractured, and the composition and gelling properties of surimi changed.

Summary: This study suggests that IL-4 receptor signaling plays a minor role in maintaining the macrophage M2 population and proliferation rates in vivo, while IL-4 signaling exerts a proinflammatory role in adipose tissue inflammation by directly upregulating CD11c on adipose tissue macrophages.

Summary: This study identified two Meteorin-like (Metrnl) homologues in grass carp, with CiMetrnl-a being constitutively expressed in healthy fish tissues and CiMetrnl-b transcripts being undetectable. CiMetrnl-a was inducible by certain pathogens and was able to up-regulate pro-inflammatory cytokines, potentially through the NF-kappa B dependent pathway.

Summary: The bidirectional interaction between adipocytes and adipose tissue immune cells is crucial for regulating adipose function, inflammation, and insulin responsiveness. Obesity reduces cAMP-driven IL-6 secretion from adipocytes, but restoring their catecholamine sensitivity can stimulate IL-6 secretion and activate macrophages to promote an anti-inflammatory gene expression pattern.

Summary: 4-Methoxydalbergione (4-MD) is capable of inhibiting the progression of certain cancers, however, its effects on esophageal cancer (EC) were unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the inhibitory effect of 4-MD on EC and its molecular mechanism. Results showed that 4-MD treatment significantly inhibited proliferation and migration, downregulated inflammatory cytokines, and inactivated the NF-kappa B signaling pathway. Additionally, 4-MD reversed the increases induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in EC cells. These findings suggest that 4-MD may attenuate EC cell proliferation and migration by inactivating the NF-kappa B signaling pathway.
