Summary: This study identified METTL16 in miiuy croaker and found that its expression was increased after poly(I:C) stimulation, suggesting its involvement in antiviral immunity. Functional experiments showed that mmiMETTL16 could inhibit immune response caused by viral stimulation. Overall, the study on mmiMETTL16 will contribute to understanding the role of METTL16 in the teleost immune system and the potential mechanisms of the m6A regulation network.

Summary: In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the study of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in noncoding RNAs. While circRNAs are abundant in mammalian studies, research in lower vertebrates has been lacking. In this study, a circRNA called circPlce1 was found to be related to the innate immune response in Miichthys miiuy (miiuy croaker). Experimental results showed that circPlce1 could promote the production of antiviral genes and inflammatory response. It was also observed that circPlce1 can promote cell proliferation and improve cell viability. The study provides a foundation for understanding the biological function of circRNAs in the innate immune response in teleost fish.

Summary: In this study, we identified 27 ChemR genes in miiuy croaker and analyzed their characteristics, including gene structure, evolutionary mechanism, and expression levels upon bacterial infection. The results showed that these genes underwent tandem and segmental duplication events during evolution, and teleost fishes' ChemRs may have a higher evolutionary dynamic compared to vertebrates. Additionally, 21 positively selected codons were detected in vertebrate ChemRs under Model 8, and certain genes were significantly up-regulated upon Vibrio harveyi infection, providing valuable information for further functional analysis.

Summary: MDA5, a crucial member of RIG-I-like receptors, plays a significant role in antiviral immune response. MicroRNAs have been discovered to regulate the RLR signaling pathway, with miR-203 directly negatively regulating MDA5 in miiuy croaker. This study sheds light on miRNA-mediated regulation of immune responses and cytokine suppression in teleost fish, offering new insights for mammalian immune response studies.

Summary: With the in-depth study of circRNA, its important role in mammals, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, development, and disease state, has been demonstrated. However, the regulatory mechanism of circRNA in lower vertebrates remains unclear. In this study, a new circRNA named circRara was identified and its positive regulatory effect on the antiviral and antibacterial response, cell proliferation, and activity in miiuy croaker was confirmed.

Summary: In this study, Vclb was found to inhibit the NF-KB signaling pathway, and its inhibitory effect was enhanced by LPS induction. Furthermore, Vclb inhibits NF-KB activation by targeting MyD88, thereby suppressing the production of inflammatory cytokines. Mechanistically, Vclb inhibits the NF-KB signaling pathway by targeting MyD88 ubiquitin-proteasome pathway.

Summary: Alternative splicing is an important mechanism for controlling gene expression in eukaryotes. This study identified three different splicing isoforms in the ferritin gene fthl27 of Miichthys miiuy and found that they showed an upregulation trend after stimulation. These isoforms may have different regulatory effects on inflammatory factors and antiviral immune factors, playing a significant role in the innate immune response of fish.

Summary: In this study, miR-144 was investigated as a regulator of I kappa B alpha, promoting the activation of the NF-kappa B signaling pathway. The findings suggest that miR-144 can promote p65 activation by inhibiting I kappa B alpha, thus affecting the NF-kappa B signaling pathway.

Summary: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in the immune response of fish to pathogen infections. This study found that MIR122HG can negatively regulate the antiviral immune response in miiuy croaker and prevent excessive immune response. Furthermore, MIR122HG promotes viral replication.

Summary: In this study, swim bladder hydrolysate with the highest ACEi activity was prepared from miiuy croaker using an in vitro gastrointestinal digestion method. Seven novel ACEi peptides were isolated from the hydrolysate, with SHGEY and SPYGF showing remarkable ACEi activity. Molecular docking experiments revealed that the ACEi activity of SHGEY and SPYGF was mainly attributed to their effective interaction with the ACEi active sites through hydrophobic interaction, electrostatic force, and hydrogen bonding. Moreover, SHGEY and SPYGF promoted NO production and decreased ET-1 secretion in HUVECs, and protected HUVECs from H2O2 damage.
