Summary: Despite lacking the necessary skills, community health workers in Nigeria play a crucial role in delivering care for hypertension and diabetes. However, their practices often exceed the designated scope, leading to variability in care quality and safety. Strengthening their role requires enhanced policy support, continuous training, improved guidelines, and better coordination between primary and higher-level facilities.

Summary: The study aimed to improve clinical outcomes for patients with type 2 diabetes in a resource-constrained, frontier area through an innovative population health program that integrates medical and social care models. The results showed that the program led to a significant decrease in hemoglobin A1c levels and sustained effectiveness. This suggests that integrating medical and social care models is beneficial for improving clinical outcomes for patients with diabetes.

Summary: The INTEGRA study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a specially designed multicomponent health care intervention in improving glycaemic control in poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients. The intervention group showed a significant reduction in HbA1c values compared to the usual care group at 12 months, and more patients in the intervention group achieved target blood glucose levels.

Summary: This study aimed to explore HCWs perceptions on factors affecting diabetes self-management among T2DM patients of Fiji. The findings demonstrated that health system challenges such as lack of material resources and human resources compounded the factors affecting diabetes self-management. HCWs training as diabetes educators and developing policy on diabetes self-management are highly recommended to facilitate diabetes self-management.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the quality outcomes of diabetes care in general practice in Switzerland. The findings suggest a significant reduction in the quality of diabetes care during the pandemic, resulting in a higher proportion of patients lost to follow-up. Factors such as age, duration of disease, comorbidities, and vaccination were identified as key factors associated with continuity of care during the pandemic.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate diabetes control among homeless individuals and its associated factors. The results showed that homeless individuals were more likely to have inadequately managed diabetes, with higher average HbA1c levels. Domiciled status, older age, and non-Hispanic/Latino ethnicity were associated with well-managed diabetes. Interventions targeting subgroups should be implemented in shelters or shelter-clinics to improve diabetes control.
