Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy of PDO threads in facial rejuvenation, showing that PDO threads are effective in aged skin rejuvenation, soft tissue retraction, and support with fewer complications. The combination of different types of PDO threads may produce slightly better results than using a single type alone.

Summary: This article summarizes the latest evidence related to suture materials and wound closure techniques in dermatological surgery, highlighting the impact of suture choice on aspects such as scars, pain, and infection. Research on buried sutures still lacks adequate quality and further large-scale, multicentre, randomized trials are needed for comparison.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the effect of forehead thread lifting on enhancing upper eyelid opening. Fifteen patients underwent eyebrow thread lifting surgery and photographs were taken before, immediately after, and 1 and 12 weeks after surgery. The results showed that at 1 week after surgery, the eyebrows were at a lower level compared with before surgery, and there were no significant changes in eye-opening. However, at 12 weeks after surgery, the eyebrows and upper eyelids were significantly elevated.

Summary: In this study, inorganic particles such as magnesium hydroxide and zinc oxide, along with a biologically active agent asiaticoside, were coated on the surface of PDO thread to improve its function. The coated thread showed excellent biocompatibility, promoted collagen synthesis, reduced inflammation, and stimulated angiogenesis, indicating its potential for skin regeneration without inducing fibrosis.

Summary: This study presents the surgical management and outcomes of complications related to thread rhinoplasty. The most common complications were visible or extruded threads at the tip, followed by dorsum irregularity. Removal of threads required careful tissue dissection and resulted in structural weakening and tissue loss, which needed restoration and camouflage.

Summary: Two patients with different thread materials exhibited different clinical courses and Hounsfield unit (HU) values on computed tomography (CT). Absorbable threads were more aggressive and easily detected on CT, while non-absorbable threads showed lower HU values in inflammatory tissues.

Summary: This study evaluated the collagen production and inflammation changes in adipose tissue after implantation of different types of threads. The results showed that PDO threads had the best performance with long-lasting integrity, mild inflammation, and moderate collagen production. This makes them a suitable choice for clinical use.

Summary: A comparison between monofilament and braided suture thread in cervical cerclage surgery showed that monofilament suture did not reduce the rate of pregnancy loss. Clinicians should consider these findings when choosing suture thread to optimize outcomes.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of thread-embedded acupuncture (TEA) for non-specific posterior neck pain (NPNP). The research will search nine electronic databases for randomized controlled trials of TEA for NPNP and conduct a meta-analysis using the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool. The results will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Summary: The study compared the postoperative outcomes of patients undergoing fixation with sutures or resorbable plate-screws and found similar complication rates and head shape results. Although the resorbable plate-screw group had a longer follow-up period, the suture group had shorter operation time, lower transfusion requirement, and earlier discharge.

Summary: This study compared Plenum(R) Guide with collagen membranes for bone-tissue regeneration, showing that PDO membranes induced slightly more newly formed bone tissue with no systemic toxicity. The synthetic membranes displayed essential characteristics for effective tissue regeneration, making them a safe and efficient alternative for resorbable membranes in tissue regeneration.
