Summary: The study investigated the incidence of sacral dysmorphism in patients with spinopelvic dissociation and found a significantly lower prevalence compared to previous literature. Variations in sacral osseous anatomy may alter force transmission during traumatic loading, potentially providing protection against certain high-energy fracture patterns. Preoperative evaluation of sacral anatomy is crucial for safe screw placement and understanding the pathomechanics of sacral trauma.

Summary: With the aging population, there is a rise in osteoporotic fractures, including U-shaped sacral fractures which can be difficult to diagnose and potentially lead to disability if left untreated. Surgical options for managing U-shaped sacral fractures are discussed to prevent rapid medical decline in elderly patients.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study aimed to evaluate the success and complications of percutaneous posterior pelvic fixation in the treatment of displaced spinopelvic dissociation patterns. The results showed that this method was safe and effective, with a low complication rate and reliable union.

Summary: This study conducted a cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric analysis of the Spanish version of the Australian Pelvic Floor Questionnaire. The results showed that the Spanish version of the questionnaire is an understandable, easy-to-use, reliable, and valid tool for assessing pelvic floor dysfunctions.

Summary: Pelvic ring injuries are rare but serious, and percutaneous sacro-iliac screw fixation (SSF) is the standard treatment. SSF may cause deformity of the sacrum and pelvic ring. This study evaluated sacral morphometry in SSF for posterior pelvic fractures. It found that the bony sacral volume and pelvic deformity depend on the treatment of the anterior pelvic ring.

Summary: More female participants experienced sacroiliac joint pain than male participants. The study showed that higher pelvic incidence and sacral slope values were related to sacroiliac joint pain among low back pain patients.

Summary: This study assessed the recovery process and radiographic parameters associated with the functional outcomes in patients with spinopelvic dissociation (SPD) treated by triangular osteosynthesis. The study found that a vertical reduction in SPD during surgery may lead to more satisfactory outcomes than a horizontal anatomical reduction. The EQ-5D-5L and EQ-VAS showed significant improvements postoperatively, with different results depending on the measurement unit.

Summary: This paper discusses the spinopelvic lesions resulting from high-energy vertical trauma and the dissociation of the lumbar spine from the pelvis. The controversy surrounding lumbopelvic instrumentations, including different constructs and fixation levels, makes comparison difficult due to variations in patient numbers and fixation nature across published series. The methodology for laboratory studies is crucial for accurate inference to the clinical setting.

Summary: In this study, we found that the novel morphologic parameters SIP and PIA were reliable for determining the morphology and orientation of the pelvis. The ideal lumbar lordosis angle could be accurately predicted using SIP, with equal accuracy as using PI.

Summary: The relationship between acetabular dysplasia and spino-pelvic alignment was explored in this study. The results showed no significant association between acetabular dysplasia and spino-pelvic parameters, but a higher pelvic incidence may be a factor associated with acetabular dysplasia.

Summary: Spinopelvic dissociation injuries are complex injuries that require restoration of alignment, stability, and neural decompression. Traditional fixation methods involve spanning the upper sacral fracture site, while our modified method directly manipulates the S1 body, potentially improving reduction and stability across the fracture.

Summary: This study aims to identify patients with sagittal spinopelvic imbalance or spinal stiffness using radiographic markers on standing anteroposterior (AP) pelvis radiographs. The study found that the overlap of the sacrococcygeal junction and pubic symphysis and the presence of lumbosacral hardware were associated with an increased risk of combined sagittal imbalance and stiffness.

Summary: Intramedullary nailing is the preferred method for treating tibial, femoral shaft, and sub- or intertrochanteric fractures. However, complications such as joint perforation by bone fragments can occur. In this report, we describe a complicated case of a patient who experienced a femoral shaft fracture and knee arthrodesis during osteosynthesis with a long nail.

Summary: This study translated and culturally adapted the MPS for the Lithuanian-speaking population, and evaluated the psychometric properties of the MPS-LT through two follow-up assessments. The results showed that the MPS-LT had limited ability to measure functional outcomes at 2 months after pelvic fracture, but had a good ability to assess pelvic function and sensitivity to health changes at the 12-month follow-up examination.

Summary: This study found gender differences in the risk of revision after early and delayed THA dislocations. Men had a higher risk for revision after early dislocation, while women had a higher risk for revision after delayed dislocation. Additionally, using a 32mm femoral head could reduce the risk of revision after early dislocation.
