Summary: This study retrospectively evaluated the prevalence of AVN and associated risk factors in patients with IIM, finding that most patients were asymptomatic. The overall prevalence of AVN was 3%, and the MRI prevalence was 4.2%. None of the established risk factors were found to be associated with AVN development in IIM patients.

Disease Flare and Reactogenicity in Patients With Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases Following Two-Dose SARS-CoV-2 Messenger RNA Vaccination

Summary: Disease flares following 2-dose SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination in patients with RMDs were uncommon, with no reports of severe flares. Injection site pain and fatigue were the most frequently reported reactions. Factors such as prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, flares in the preceding 6 months, and the use of combination immunomodulatory therapy were associated with flares.

Summary: The study revealed that certain MSA-defined subgroups of myositis patients are frequently misclassified, and MSAs are better predictors of myositis phenotypes compared to the EULAR/ACR-defined subgroups.

Summary: This study investigated the cancer risk in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) compared to the general population. The results showed that IIM patients had a 1.43-fold increased risk of developing cancer. Specific autoantibodies, such as anti-transcription intermediary factor 1 gamma (anti-TIF1 gamma), were associated with an increased risk of ovarian and breast cancer.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic yield of computed tomography (CT) imaging for cancer screening/surveillance in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM). The results showed that dermatomyositis patients had the highest diagnostic yields on CT scans of the chest and abdomen/pelvis, while patients under 40 years old had lower diagnostic yields.
