Summary: Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 is highly recommended for immunocompromised patients with autoimmune rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (aiRMDs). This study found that patients receiving heterologous boosters showed better antibody levels and immune cell responses. Biologic therapy and disease duration may affect the specific immunity against SARS-CoV-2 in aiRMDs.

Summary: This study investigated the humoral and cell-mediated T cell response after the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in RAIRD patients. The results showed that RAIRD patients had lower antibody levels and anti-SARS-CoV-2 T cell responses compared to healthy controls. In particular, the use of certain medications may reduce the immunogenicity of the vaccine.

Summary: In this study, 88 healthy individuals who received 3 doses of CoronaVac vaccine were recruited. The results showed that the second and third doses of the vaccine significantly increased the levels of neutralizing antibodies against the Omicron variant and enhanced the overall antibody response. Additionally, the vaccine also increased the number of spike-specific T cells and affected the composition of T cell subsets. These findings suggest that CoronaVac vaccine-induced T cells can provide long-term immune protection.

Summary: Many adults in India have received COVID-19 vaccines, with or without prior infection. This study aims to assess the effect of prior immunity on antibody response upon vaccination with BBV152 in India, and whether these antibodies can neutralize Delta and Omicron variants. The results show that natural infection during the second wave in 2021 generated neutralizing antibodies against various lineages, including Omicron, although at lower levels. A single dose of BBV152 boosted antibody titers against Delta and Omicron, but the levels remained low against Omicron.

Summary: This observational study reports the clinical features and outcomes of COVID-19 in patients with systemic autoimmune and autoinflammatory rheumatic diseases (SAARD) who were unvaccinated or received 2 or 3 doses of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. The study found that vaccination with 2 or 3 doses significantly reduced hospitalizations and the need for oxygen supplementation in COVID-19 patients with SAARD. Furthermore, the study showed that receiving 3 doses of the vaccine was associated with a significantly lower risk of severe/critical COVID-19.

Summary: The objective of this study was to demonstrate the changes in antibody titers after the second and third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and to determine the antibody titers in cases of spontaneous infection with SARS-CoV-2 after vaccination. Results showed that antibody titers decreased with time after the second and third doses, unless there was a spontaneous COVID-19 infection. The third booster vaccination was effective in increasing the antibody titer. Additionally, natural infections after administering two or more doses of the vaccine were observed, with some patients maintaining high antibody titers even after 6 months since infection.

Injection site pain and fatigue were the most frequently reported reactions. Factors such as prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, flares in the preceding 6 months, and the use of combination immunomodulatory therapy were associated with flares.

Summary: This study investigated the cancer risk in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) compared to the general population. The results showed that IIM patients had a 1.43-fold increased risk of developing cancer. Specific autoantibodies, such as anti-transcription intermediary factor 1 gamma (anti-TIF1 gamma), were associated with an increased risk of ovarian and breast cancer.
