Summary: The study compared two different treatment regimens of dydrogesterone for endometriosis-related chronic pelvic pain, finding that both prolonged cyclical and continuous regimens led to significant and similar reductions in pain severity and improvements in quality of life and sexual well-being.

Summary: Endometriosis, a common gynecologic disease, often leads to various pain symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and chronic pelvic pain. Inflammatory responses, nervous system sensitization, and altered distribution of nerve fibers may contribute to chronic pain in these patients. Understanding these mechanisms is crucial in guiding treatment decisions for endometriosis-related pain symptoms.

Summary: This study found that dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia, and non-menstrual chronic pelvic pain are common symptoms among French women of reproductive age and deserve more attention. A significant proportion (7.5%) of women reported experiencing multiple, severe and frequent pelvic pain symptoms.

Summary: We analyzed the pelvic pain characteristics among adolescents and adults with and without endometriosis over a 2-year follow-up period. The participants completed questionnaires that included validated measures of pain severity, frequency, and life interference. The study found that endometriosis cases reported more severe and frequent pain compared to controls, but there was improvement in acyclic pelvic pain over time. The trends differed between cases and controls, highlighting the importance of assessing multidimensional features of pelvic pain.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and long-term safety of treatment with Dienogest in patients with endometriosis. The results showed that long-term therapy with Dienogest effectively controlled the symptoms of the disease, reduced the size of endometriomas, and had minimal side effects.

Summary: While most women with chronic pelvic pain experience significant pain relief following hysterectomy, higher levels of centralized pain before the surgery are a strong predictor of persistent pelvic pain in the long term.

Summary: The study evaluated the prevalence of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) and ovarian endometrioma (OMA) on MRI in adolescents with severe dysmenorrhea. Among the total of 345 adolescents, 39.3% had endometriosis and 11.4% had adenomyosis. OMA was found in 20.7% of patients, while DIE was found in 88.4%. The prevalence of these conditions increased linearly with the severity of painful symptoms, with a higher rate observed in adolescents above the age of 18.

Summary: Chronic pelvic pain is commonly associated with additional pathologies such as adenomyosis and endometriosis. A retrospective study found that 40% of patients with associated pathologies did not experience relief from pelvic pain at the early follow-up and 32% at the 12-month follow-up after laparoscopic niche repair. Therefore, careful patient selection is important for uterine scar repair in patients with concomitant adenomyosis and endometriosis.

Summary: This study found that sacral neuromodulation (SNM) may be an effective treatment for refractory chronic pelvic pain in women with endometriosis. Patients experienced pain reduction and improved quality of life after SNM implantation.

Summary: Research on the effects of cannabis-based products on the female reproductive system, particularly in the context of endometriosis, is limited and inconclusive. While some studies suggest potential benefits, there is a lack of well-designed, robust studies and randomized controlled trials. National guidance in the UK currently does not recommend the use of cannabis-based products due to insufficient evidence of their benefits. Further comprehensive research is needed before their use can be recommended or prescribed.

Summary: Increased sensory sensitivity is a common symptom of chronic pain conditions and is associated with the development of chronic pain. A study found that visual stimulation-induced unpleasantness was associated with bladder pain and evoked primary visual cortex activity. However, this relationship was moderated by provoked bladder pain. The results suggest that cortical mechanisms responsible for aberrant downstream sensory integration should be targeted in reducing multimodal hypersensitivity.

Summary: Endometriosis-associated pain plays a crucial role in determining the need for surgical intervention. However, there is currently no quantitative method to diagnose the intensity of local pain, especially in cases of deep endometriosis. This study examines the clinical significance of a pain score system that utilizes a pelvic examination to assess endometriotic pain. The results show a significant decrease in the pain score postoperatively, suggesting the potential use of this score to develop surgical strategies for deep endometriosis.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the effects of one-year dienogest therapy on the clinical picture, pain patterns, psycho-emotional status, and quality-of-life indicators in adolescents with endometriosis after surgical treatment. Results showed that dienogest therapy significantly alleviated clinical symptoms, improved quality of life, reduced pain symptoms, and showed good tolerability and compliance.

Summary: This study assessed the differences in resting electroencephalogram (EEG) oscillatory amplitudes between women with endometriosis and healthy controls, and explored the relationship with chronic pelvic pain. The results showed that women with endometriosis had higher amplitudes in the Delta and Beta frequency bands, and lower amplitudes in the Alpha frequency band. Delta and Beta amplitudes were positively associated with pain severity, but only Beta amplitude maintained this association after controlling for Delta-Beta amplitude coupling.

Summary: This prospective cohort follow-up study aimed to identify patient features that predict the time to pregnancy leading to term live birth in infertile women diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that race, smoking, BMI, insulin, total testosterone, and SHBG concentrations were associated with the chance of pregnancy.
