The COVID-19 virus has caused a global pandemic, leading computer scientists to develop GraphCovidNet model using Graph Isomorphic Network (GIN) to screen the virus from CT scans and X-ray images. The model achieved an impressive accuracy of 99% on four standard datasets for detecting COVID-19 scans.
COVID-19, a viral infection originated from Wuhan, China has spread across the world and it has currently affected over 115 million people. Although vaccination process has already started, reaching sufficient availability will take time. Considering the impact of this widespread disease, many research attempts have been made by the computer scientists to screen the COVID-19 from Chest X-Rays (CXRs) or Computed Tomography (CT) scans. To this end, we have proposed GraphCovidNet, a Graph Isomorphic Network (GIN) based model which is used to detect COVID-19 from CT-scans and CXRs of the affected patients. Our proposed model only accepts input data in the form of graph as we follow a GIN based architecture. Initially, pre-processing is performed to convert an image data into an undirected graph to consider only the edges instead of the whole image. Our proposed GraphCovidNet model is evaluated on four standard datasets: SARS-COV-2 Ct-Scan dataset, COVID-CT dataset, combination of covid-chestxray-dataset, Chest X-Ray Images (Pneumonia) dataset and CMSC-678-ML-Project dataset. The model shows an impressive accuracy of 99% for all the datasets and its prediction capability becomes 100% accurate for the binary classification problem of detecting COVID-19 scans. Automatic spoken language identification using MFCC based time series features

Mainak Biswas, Saif Rahaman, Ali Ahmadian, Kamalularifin Subari, Pawan Kumar Singh

Summary: Spoken Language Identification (SLID) is a well-researched field and an important first step in multilingual speech recognition systems. This study proposes a model for Indian and foreign language recognition, which enhances data to make it robust against everyday life noise and selects relevant features through feature extraction and selection algorithms. The model achieves high accuracy on three standard datasets, indicating that these features capture language specific characteristics of speech and can be used as standard features for SLID task.

Theoretical developments and application of variational principle in a production inventory problem with interval uncertainty

Subhajit Das, Md Sadikur Rahman, Ali Akbar Shaikh, Asoke Kumar Bhunia, Ali Ahmadian

Summary: The goal of this work is two-fold: (i) to theoretically develop optimality conditions for a variational problem with interval uncertainty, and (ii) to apply the established results in a production inventory model with interval uncertainty. The necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for the interval-valued variational problem (IVVP) are proposed using interval order relations. A production inventory model is formulated considering interval-valued time-dependent production and demand rates. The optimal policy of the proposed model is studied using the established optimality conditions.

Summary: This paper proposes a method for human activity recognition (HAR) from wearable sensor data. It utilizes Continuous Wavelet Transform and a Spatial Attention-aided Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to extract features, and employs feature selection and a modified version of Genetic Algorithm (GA) for activity recognition. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms existing models in terms of classification performance and improves overall recognition accuracy by reducing the number of features.

Summary: This study investigates the steady mixed convection solute transfer in a two-dimensional viscous fluid. The effects of joule heating in an inclined stretching cylinder and double stratification on Jeffrey Nanofluid are analyzed. By utilizing approximation transformation and numerical techniques, the skin friction, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number are calculated and analyzed. The results show that various parameters, such as M, gamma, alpha, Deborah number, magnetic factor, Brownian motion, have different effects on the velocity, temperature, and concentration.

Advances in Financial Leasing Mechanism Designs

Lucianna Canana, Luigi De Cesare, Massimiliano Ferrara

Summary: Financial leasing contracts often have clauses for early termination in case of lessee default. The lessor may delay terminating the contract to take advantage of increased fees due to default interest. This study aims to determine the optimal time for contract rescission when the default interest rate exceeds the contract's outstanding interest rate and the alternative investment return is deterministic. It provides a detailed list of cases in which termination is appropriate. The problem is formulated under deterministic and semi-deterministic dynamics for the opportunity cost.

Optimal Pursuit Game of Two Pursuers and One Evader with the Gronwall-Type Constraints on Controls

Gafurjan Ibragimov, Ikrombek Yusupov, Massimiliano Ferrara

Summary: We studied a simple motion differential game involving two pursuers and one evader in a two-dimensional space. The control functions of the players are restricted by Gronwall-type constraints. The objective of the pursuers is to complete the game as quickly as possible, while the evader aims to avoid capture or delay the capture time. We derived an equation for the optimal pursuit time and determined the optimal strategies for all players.
