Summary: A series of capsule-like anion receptors were successfully self-assembled by coordinating flexible amide based polypyrazole ligands with dipalladium corners in aqueous solution. Characterization of these complexes using various techniques confirmed their ability to unsymmetrically accommodate nitrate anions via hydrogen bonding and other weak interactions. NMR titrations in dimethyl sulfoxide showed high selectivity of complexes 1 and 2 for encapsulating nitrate ions.

Summary: Thirteen palladium-ligand assemblies with different structures and topologies were studied for their ability to bind lithium ions. It was found that the addition of LiBF4 caused a significant structural rearrangement in one case, converting a dinuclear [Pd2L4](4+) complex into a low-symmetry [Pd4L8](8+) assembly with two binding pockets for solvated LiBF4 ion pairs. This rearrangement was only induced by Li+, indicating highly specific host-guest interactions. Structural analysis revealed that the [Pd4L8](8+) receptor had a compact structure with multiple intramolecular interactions, similar to natural and synthetic foldamers.

Summary: This study investigates the solution self-assembly of a P3HT/zinc salt complex system and the in situ growth mechanism of ZnO nanocrystals within self-assembled nanotemplates. By controlling solvent selectivity and aging conditions, the geometric shape of the complex system could be tailored in solution, forming nanoscopic spheres or highly elongated nanofibrils. The resulting nanostructured P3HT/zinc salt complex assemblies were used as nanoreactors for the in situ growth of ZnO, demonstrating an optimized donor/acceptor structure for exciton dissociation and effective photoluminescence quenching in hybrid structures.

Summary: Binuclear Pd(II) self-assemblies [Pd-2(bpy)(2)(L)(2)](NO3)(4), 1 and [Pd-2(phen)(2)(L)(2)](NO3)(4), 2 were synthesized by combining the multi-dentate ligand N, N'-di(pyridin-3-yl)pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide, L with suitable cis-protected palladium(II) units. The characterization of complexes 1 and 2 was done using various techniques, and their molecular structures were determined by X-ray crystallography. Molecular docking study showed strong interaction of complexes 1 and 2 at the active site of Protein-Arginine-N Methyltransferase 1.

Summary: Templated synthesis and assembly of nanostructured materials with tailored properties have attracted significant attention. In this review, the dual roles of cellulose nanomaterials (CNMs) as templates for synthesis and assembly are extensively explored. Various nanostructures developed with CNMs, including aerogels, microspheres, nanotubes, nanorods, mesoporous structures, anisotropic, and biomimetic structures, offer versatile applications. The critical challenges and prospects for using sustainable CNMs in templated synthesis and assembly are also highlighted.

Summary: Unprotected cis-2,3-diarylpiperidines are synthesized through a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction between aryl halides and endocyclic 1-azaallyl anions. These intermediates are generated in situ by the deprotonation of 2-aryl-1-piperideines, precursors that are readily prepared from simple piperidines. An asymmetric version of this reaction provides products with moderate to good yields and enantioselectivities when using (2R, 3R)-iPr-BI-DIME as the ligand. This study expands the synthetic utility of endocyclic 1-azaallyl anions.

Summary: Humidity plays a critical role in molecular assembly, forming microscale liquid confined space under high humidity and nanoscale liquid confined space under low humidity. The differences in surface wettability and adhesion are important. The study reveals that flat patterns with thermodynamically ordered structure and sharp patterns with dynamically disordered structure show different photoisomerization behaviors and photoresponsiveness. The sharp pattern with disordered structure has higher conductivity than the flat pattern with layered ordered structure due to different electronic transport mechanisms. This work provides a new approach for controlling the morphology and function of molecular patterns through manipulating molecular self-assembly.

Summary: A series of cationic heteroleptic copper(I) complexes were studied for their photophysical properties, showing high photoluminescence quantum yields. The most emissive complexes were used in organic light-emitting diodes and light-emitting electrochemical cells, demonstrating longer device lifetime compared to benchmark copper(I)-based LECs. Additionally, the electrochemiluminescence properties of several complexes were studied for the first time, showing a correlation between reversible electrochemistry and better performance in a LEC.

Summary: Anion-induced twisted disposition of a bidentate ligand around two palladium(II) centers in [Pd2L4](ClO4)(4) cage led to a helical structure with both M and P enantiomers. The encapsulation of perchlorate anion with hydrogen bonding interactions provided the driving force for the helicity, whereas the analogous complex with nitrate as counter anion was nonhelical. This phenomenon of forming helical and nonhelical Pd2L4 arrangements by changing the counter anion is a new finding.
