Charcot arthropathy of elbow due to syringomyelia: a case series and systematic review of literature

Manoj Kumar Parida, Sarit Sekhar Pattanaik, Aditya Kumar Panda, Bidyut Kumar Das, Saumya Ranjan Tripathy

Summary: This study reviewed the clinical profile and management of syringomyelia-induced Charcot arthropathy of the elbow through a literature review and case series. The results showed that patients mainly presented with elbow arthritis, motor weakness, and sensory loss, which were frequently associated with Chiari malformation and ulnar neuropathy.

Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CTLA4) polymorphisms are linked to systemic lupus erythematosus: an updated meta-analysis

Subham Suvankar, Sunali Padhi, Hala Abubaker Bagabir, Abhijit Pati, Mohd Wahid, Raju K. Mandal, Shafiul Haque, Aditya K. Panda

Summary: This meta-analysis found a significant association between the CTLA-4 +49 A/G variant and susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) development, as well as a link between the -1722 T/C variant and protection against SLE. The other two SNPs in the CTLA-4 gene did not show a connection to SLE. Interestingly, the association with CTLA-4 +49 A/G was only observed in the Asian population.

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) intronic variant (rs2430561) is a risk factor for systemic lupus erythematosus: Observation from a meta-analysis

Surjyapratap Sarangi, Suraj K. Nahak, Sunali Padhi, Bidyutprabha Pradhan, Nisha Nayak, Abhijit Pati, Aditya K. Panda

Summary: The role of interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) in autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), has been extensively studied. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the association between a specific polymorphism in the IFN-gamma gene and the susceptibility to RA and SLE. The results showed a significant association between the IFN-gamma polymorphism and the development of SLE.

Toll-like receptor-2 (TLR-2) rs111200466 variant offers protection against SARS-CoV-2 infections and mortality: a worldwide epidemiological correlation analysis

Nisha Nayak, Abhijit Pati, Suraj Kumar Nahak, Surjyapratap Sarangi, Bidyutprabha Pradhan, Sunali Padhi, Aditya K. K. Panda

Summary: In this study, the researchers found a significant negative correlation between the TLR2 rs111200466 polymorphism and susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection and related mortality. This suggests that TLR2 may play an important role in SARS-CoV-2 infection, and further research is needed to validate these findings.

TNF-a promoter variant (G-308A) is associated with susceptibility to P. falciparum infection and severe malaria: a meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis

Surjyapratap Sarangi, Suraj Kuamr Nahak, Sunali Padhi, Nisha Nayak, Bidyutprabha Pradhan, Abhijit Pati, Jogeswar Panigrahi, Aditya K. K. Panda

Summary: The results of this meta-analysis indicate a significant association between the TNF-α G-308A variant and susceptibility to P. falciparum infection and malaria severity. However, no significant association was found between the TNF-α (G-238A) polymorphism and infection or severity of P. falciparum or P. vivax malaria.

Prevalence of migraine in systemic lupus erythematosus: A meta-analysis

Surjyapratap Sarangi, Suraj K. Nahak, Anisha Rupashree, Jogeswar Panigrahi, Aditya K. Panda

Summary: This study used a meta-analysis approach to investigate the prevalence of migraine in SLE patients worldwide and whether migraine frequency is higher in SLE patients compared to healthy controls. The results showed that about one-third of SLE patients experience migraine and the prevalence of migraine is significantly higher in SLE patients than in the healthy controls.

Efficacy of baricitinib for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus patients: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Aditya K. Panda, Shovit Ranjan, Jayanta K. Sahu

Summary: This study assessed the efficacy of baricitinib in treating SLE patients. The results showed that a higher dose of baricitinib (4 mg) could improve the condition of SLE patients, but a lower dose (2 mg) did not have a significant impact. However, further research is needed to validate these findings.
