Summary: This study investigated the expression pattern and clinical significance of serum miR-455-5p in the onset and development of carotid artery stenosis (CAS) and its potential protective role in endothelial cell injury. The findings suggest that down-regulated expression of miR-455-5p may serve as a biomarker for the early diagnosis of CAS and has predictive value for the development of cerebral ischemia events (CIEs) in CAS patients.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical value of miR-532-5p in asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis (CAS) patients and its predictive value for future cerebral ischaemic events (CIE). The results showed that miR-532-5p expression was significantly decreased in CAS patients compared with healthy controls, and it had high diagnostic accuracy in asymptomatic CAS patients. Low miR-532-5p expression and a high degree of carotid stenosis were independent factors for the occurrence of CIE in asymptomatic CAS patients.

Summary: The study identified the diagnostic potential of miR-19a-3p for asymptomatic CAS and its predictive potential for CIE. Elevated miR-19a-3p levels were associated with severe CAS and were independent predictors of CIE occurrence. MiR-19a-3p could be used as a diagnostic biomarker for asymptomatic CAS patients and as an independent predictor of CIE.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the association between intraplaque neovascularization and future ischemic events in asymptomatic patients with carotid stenosis. The results showed that grade 2 intraplaque neovascularization was an independent predictor of future vascular events in asymptomatic carotid stenosis patients. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound may be an effective screening method to identify high-risk subgroups of patients with asymptomatic carotid stenosis.

Summary: In this study, the potential role of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) in ischemic stroke (IS) was investigated. It was found that lncRNA PEG11as interacts with miR-342-5p and PFN1, regulating neuronal apoptosis and may serve as a potential therapeutic option for cerebral I/R.

Summary: This study identifies the tumor-suppressive activity of miR-342-5p and miR-491-5p in osteosarcoma cells. Both miRNAs induce apoptosis and target different proteins, offering potential for therapeutic intervention in osteosarcomas.

Summary: Research suggests that ischemic preconditioning reduces brain ischemia-reperfusion injury by downregulating the expression of miR-33-5p and miR-135b-5p, which in turn protects neurons from apoptosis induced by oxygen-glucose deprivation. Inhibition of these two miRNAs significantly increases mRNA and protein levels of ABCA1 and reduces activation of the mitochondria-dependent apoptosis pathway.

Summary: The role of miR-342-5p in EV71 replication was explored in this study. The overexpression of miR-342-5p promoted EV71 replication and inhibited the innate immune response to antiviral disease. This suggests that miR-342-5p enhances EV71 replication through the Wnt/CTNNB1 signaling pathway.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and its association with preoperative carotid duplex scan (CDS) results. The results showed that preoperative CDS does not predict the risk of stroke in TAVR patients.

Summary: This study elucidated the involvement of C2dat2 in regulating autophagy and apoptosis induced by CIRI, by inhibiting miR-30d-5p through a ceRNA mechanism, affecting the DDIT4/mTOR pathway. This contributes to a better understanding of the mechanisms of CIRI.

Summary: Chondrosarcomas are malignant bone tumors that are resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Research has identified miR-342-5p and miR-491-5p as potential therapeutic options for chondrosarcoma cells, showing antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic effects. Additionally, Bcl-2 family members have been confirmed as potential therapeutic targets for chondrosarcomas.

Summary: Exosomes derived from bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC-Exos) can promote angiogenesis and improve neurological functions in ischemic stroke mice via upregulation of miR-21-5p. In vitro experiments show that BMSC-Exos also enhance the functions of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).
