Summary: (6Z,8E)-Undeca-6,8,10-trien-3-one (yuzunone) is reported as a main contributor to the unique odor of yuzu peel oil, but it was not detected in commercial samples by GC-MS and its olfactory contribution was limited even when detected by a small number of panelists in GC-O/AEDA experiments.

Summary: Through evaluation of 45 sour orange accessions from the INRAE-CIRAD citrus Biological Resources Center in France, it was found that there is low molecular polymorphism among sour oranges, with some genotypes originating from hybridizations involving sour orange, citron, pummelo or mandarin. The peel essential oil diversity is low, mainly composed of limonene, which correlates with genetic diversity. Compounds in the leaf essential oil show significant differences across sour orange varieties.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of oil addition on the dissolving capacity of the ionic liquid BmimAc for cellulose. The results indicate that the order of mixing constituents plays a key role in the dissolution process, with hydrophobic interactions being crucial. The findings highlight the need for further evaluation of accepted mechanisms for cellulose dissolution in ionic liquids.

Summary: This study revealed a strong correlation between high cupping scores in specialty coffee beans and the presence of methyl-esterified compounds (MECs), particularly 3-methylbutanoic acid methyl ester (3-MBM) and other fatty acid methyl esters. By spiking the coffee brew with 3-MBM, which was found to be associated with fresh-fruity aroma and cleanness, the effect of MECs on flavor quality was confirmed. The identification and characterization of 3-MBM in arabica specialty beans can be enhanced through chemometric profiling and spiking test validation, making it a potential marker in coffee production.

Summary: This study examines the properties of binary blends of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquid with Ethyl acetate at various temperatures, discussing molecular interactions and temperature effects through excess properties. The results are adequately fitted with the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation, providing insight into molecular interactions and temperature effects.

Summary: The catalytic synthesis of isoprenol by hydrogenation of 3-methylbut-3-en-1-yl acetate on heterogeneous bimetallic Cu-Pt catalysts was successfully carried out for the first time. The best selectivity of isoprenol (76%) and full ester conversion were achieved using the 5%Cu-1%Pt/SiO2 catalyst within 6 hours.

Summary: The mechanism of formation of methyl (4RS,6SR)-2-(4-bromophenyl)-5,5-dicyano-4,6-bis(4-methylphenyl)-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxylate was estimated. Formation of 1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridine moiety proceeds through a sequence of reactions including Michael addition, Mannich reaction, stereoselective cyclization, dehydration, and isomerization. It was found that the polysubstituted (4RS,6SR)-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridine is thermodynamically more stable than its isomeric form (3RS,4SR,6RS)-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridine.

Summary: Different extraction solvents were selected for the separation of azeotropes of water and 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol by liquid-liquid extraction. The distribution coefficient and separation factor were calculated to evaluate the extraction ability of the solvents, with experimental data successfully correlated using NRTL and UNIQUAC models. The reliability of the experimental liquid-liquid equilibrium data was verified using Othmer-Tobias, Bachman, and Hand equations.

Summary: A mononuclear square-planar CuII complex was synthesized using a one-pot reaction in water under ambient conditions. The addition of diethanolamine facilitated the adsorption of carbon dioxide from air. The crystal structure of the compound contains co-crystallized water molecules, and analysis showed various weak intermolecular interactions.
