Further research is needed to identify novel biomarkers with sufficient specificity and sensitivity.

Effects of Allogeneic Mesenchymal Stem Cell Transplantation in Dogs with Inflammatory Bowel Disease Treated with and without Corticosteroids

Summary: The study evaluated the feasibility and effects of combined application of stem cells and prednisone in dogs with IBD for the first time. Results demonstrated that stem cell transplantation significantly and safely improved the disease condition in dogs with IBD, irrespective of prednisone treatment. The beneficial effects of the therapy were stable and long lasting, and allowed for a reduction or elimination of steroid dosage.

The Clinical Value of Procalcitonin in the Neutropenic Period After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

Summary: The diagnostic value of procalcitonin and the prognostic role of PCT clearance were evaluated in neutropenic patients after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. It was found that procalcitonin can be used to detect documented and bloodstream infection, and the inability to decrease procalcitonin by more than 80% within 5-7 days after fever onset predicted poor 100-day survival. A prognostic nomogram combining procalcitonin clearance and clinical parameters effectively predicted the 100-day survival of febrile patients.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AT-MSCs) for pediatric patients with bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BoS) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The results showed that a single injection of AT-MSCs partially improved the symptoms of patients and the treatment was safe and tolerable.

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Summary: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are complex diseases characterized by chronic inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has shown increasing effectiveness and safety in treating recurrent Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) and co-infection of SARS-CoV-2 and CDI. By modifying the gut microbiota, FMT offers an alternative approach to indirectly influence the host's immune system in a safe way, improving clinical symptoms and endoscopic findings in IBD patients. Further validation is needed to establish a clinical protocol for FMT in IBD.

Summary: The treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has improved with the use of next-generation sequencing and targeted therapies. Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-HCT) remains important for consolidating treatment and reducing relapse risk. Maintenance therapy following allo-HCT can further enhance the anti-leukemia effect without increasing the risk of complications. This paper summarizes novel therapies for AML before, during, and after allo-HCT and reviews ongoing studies.

Summary: A study on the association between the occurrence of GVHD and the relapse of AML in patients undergoing Haplo-HCT with PTCy-based GVHD prophylaxis found that while grade I acute GVHD was associated with better LFS, grade III-IV acute and extensive chronic GVHD were correlated with higher nonrelapse mortality and lower LFS.

The primary endpoint is the GvHD-free relapse-free survival rate at 1 year after allo-HSCT. The results of this study will be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and conferences.

Summary: Previous studies have suggested a role for the CARD9 pathway in atherosclerosis, but the underlying mechanisms are still unclear. This study shows that the pro-atherogenic effects of Card9 deficiency are mediated by CD36-dependent defective autophagy, which can be reversed by rapamycin and metformin. Therefore, the CARD9 pathway is an important protective pathway in atherosclerosis.

Summary: This multicentre cohort study investigated the clinical outcome and course of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients with recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) who received fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT). The study found that FMT is safe and effective for treating rCDI in IBD patients, and IBD exacerbation after FMT is infrequent.
