Up-regulation of HBP resists the production of abnormal proteins induced by low glucose, while up-regulation of COPII restores the cell surface expression of certain glycoproteins.

Summary: The Apicomplexa, a phylum of single-celled protozoa, cause severe parasitic diseases in humans and animals. Current therapeutics are limited by their efficacy and resistance. In this study, altiratinib, originally developed for glioblastoma, is identified as a potential drug candidate with broad spectrum activity against apicomplexans. Altiratinib specifically targets the TgPRP4K of T. gondii and inhibits the development of intracellular parasites. The molecular basis of the inhibitory mechanism and species selectivity is further elucidated.

Summary: Biofilms are a major concern in the food industry and healthcare. Probiotic membrane vesicles (MVs) have shown strong antibiofilm activity against Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) without affecting bacterial growth. The antibiofilm properties of the MVs were found to be associated with specific proteins, particularly peptidoglycan hydrolases (PGHs).

Summary: This study reports a case of acquired autoimmune rippling muscle disease (iRMD) associated with thymoma and AchR antibody negativity. The patient was found to have circulating MURC/Cavin-4 autoantibodies, and the histological features of the patient's muscles were similar to those commonly reported in caveolinopathies. After tumor resection and immunotherapy, the levels of autoantibodies significantly decreased, the rippling phenotype disappeared completely, and the patient achieved full remission. Therefore, MURC/Cavin-4 autoantibodies may play a pathogenic role in the development of paraneoplastic iRMD associated with thymoma.

Summary: The study found that there are significant variations in the production of Staphylococcus aureus HlgCB protein in patients with pneumonia, as well as inconsistent levels of HlgC and HlgB in certain strains. Analysis of clinical isolates and reference strains revealed that the levels of HlgCB and the HlgC/HlgB ratio depend on the activity of the hlgC promoter, mRNA processing, and translation. Additionally, a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the 5' untranslated region (UTR) of hlgCB mRNA was found to inhibit the translation of HlgC, leading to a decrease in HlgCB levels.
